As one of the first in-home
addiction
treatment providers in the country, we are an excellent fit for those struggling with
substance
abuse and/or mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and stress who want to remain engaged in positive forces in their lives (work, family) while they recover. Our clients also value the privacy and convenience that our treatment program offers. Of course, there should not be a one-size-fits-all approach to
addiction
treatment, as you have unique needs and goals. To that end, our clients have a dedicated team of
addiction
professionals to provide psychiatry, medication, and counseling services as appropriate, over the course of an entire year. Not only are we able to more precisely tailor your recovery program than other
addiction
treatment providers, but we also help you learn and practice coping skills in the environment in which your sobriety will be tested.

It's not easy to make a decision about needing some clarity and support. No one received a playbook on life and often times what used to work to feel good stopped. We can pause, and examine feeling overwhelmed stressed or stagnant. You may be struggling with perfectionism, work, family, relationships or a general sense of malaise or anxiety. Even highly accountable professionals face these issues. Education and success offer no immunity to the everyday issues of life. Most of us look good on the outside.

I have extensive experience working with clients who struggle with
addiction
, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, eating disorders and low self-esteem.
Starting therapy can be overwhelming and is often the first time you are talking to someone you don't know about private experiences and feelings. My priority is providing clients a safe, nonjudgmental space to be their most authentic selves. I strive to create this by helping explore difficult emotions, process negative thought patterns, identify and build on strengths, and stay most centered and balanced during life transitions and adjustments.

Abuse and Recovery, Sexual Orientation, Life Transitions and Stress Management.
“After trauma the world becomes sharply divided between those who know and those who don’t. People who have not shared the traumatic experience cannot be trusted, because they can’t understand it” - Dr. B. Van Der Kolk. Because of my own experiences with trauma, I have a unique understanding of the importance of working with someone who “gets it”. Trauma and grief are incredibly heavy and affect all aspects of our lives. Through therapeutic work, I have found my way to the other side. My passion is to help others do the same.

Hello. I provide Individual Psychotherapy, as well as supportive
Substance
Abuse Counseling, with a Specialty in Adult Children of Alcoholism. My primary approaches to counseling are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a 12-Step foundation framework. CBT is one common and evidenced-based form of talk-therapy aimed at resolving problems concerning unhealthy emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. When working with addictions, I will tailor the traditional 12-Step process to meet your individual needs. Additionally, my approach often requires homework for you to complete between sessions.

These last few years have been hard. It's okay to be struggling; whether it has to do with the state of the world, internal problems, or something else entirely. Everyone needs help sometimes. As a counselor, I believe in the importance of a good client-counselor relationship. I employ a holistic, client-centered approach to help one navigate through the therapeutic process, always remembering that ones problems are only a fraction of who they are. So if you want to talk, call me, email me. We can set up a free 20-minute consultation in as quick as 12 hours and a session in as quick as 2 days.

I also have experience working with compulsive sexual behavior and love
addiction
and have worked extensively with the LGBT community.
When you are feeling depressed or overwhelmed, you may feel that you have few options. You may feel even worse if you are drinking more than usual or engaged in other compulsive behaviors. I will help you see that you have choices and that you can start acting and thinking in ways that make your vision of a satisfying life a reality. I am solution-focused and although I believe psychotherapy is a process, I am comfortable working with a short-term model as well as in a more ongoing way. What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.
How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.
How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.
How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason, “interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
