Our beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world, formed by past experiences, often have an unwanted impact on our our present behavior, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Taking steps toward profound healing and self-discovery is a brave task, complicated by the difficulty of finding someone who will walk alongside you during your journey. I am passionate about working with people who are wanting to go deeper as we explore and befriend parts of self which were previously hidden. I aim to create and maintain a supportive environment in which transformation is possible.

The task of finding a new therapist to walk with you in your journey toward growth, hope, and healing can be so difficult! My style is relational and dynamic, meaning that I hold the past and present together as we work through your story to examine places you feel stuck or want to make changes. Your safety in the therapeutic relationship is important in order to facilitate the exploration of what can be painful thoughts, feelings, and memories. I integrate evidence-based techniques, cultural humility, and a nonjudgemental perspective to help you find your strengths and meet your life goals.

Therapy can be casual or intense (often, it's both!). It’s okay if you’re not yet sure about exactly what you need. We’ll work together in a way that feels real and tailored to you, focusing on lasting growth over quick fixes. With 15+ years of experience, I’ve supported people through challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and relationship issues—or simply the desire for a more fulfilling life. You don’t have to settle for feeling “fine.” Wanting more isn't just not okay—it’s natural.

Does your child's school team feel more like adversaries than teammates? Perhaps you aren’t being treated as an equal in the process? Is there a clear difference between what the school recommends and what you know your child needs? An educational advocate can provide the fresh perspective and expertise needed to finally come to a resolution. Why I started NorthStar: Witnessing long waitlists and resource shortages firsthand, I felt compelled to make a difference. That's why I launched this educational advocacy business, offering private psychoeducational evaluations and expert guidance through the special education process.

We are all in a perpetual state of changing and growing throughout our lives; it is my belief that we may as well pay attention and guide our growth in a purposeful way. I truly believe that psychotherapy changes lives by creating opportunities for people to become who they should have been all along. By illuminating and examining your viewpoint in a very genuine and thoughtful manner, new perspectives arise naturally through the psychotherapeutic process. It is our job in therapy to together seize upon a new understanding and incorporate it into who you are becoming.

I can help you get off that annoying wire hamster wheel you've been running around in, watching the wheels spin faster and yet going nowhere, staying stuck. When we get caught up in patterns of toxic striving, we focus on finding answers and solutions or chasing hits of validation. That chase can be hopeless and exhausting; it never ends. As soon as you feel like you've "nailed it" in one area of life, a new challenge pops up. I founded my practice, HumanKind Psych, to help overthinkers, people-pleasers and burned-out high achievers let go of the quest for answers or a quick fix, in favor of finding freedom and fulfillment in life.

Smart Love Family Services is a team of experienced psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors providing supportive relationship-based psychotherapy. Our approach recognizes that all people are born with an innate potential and desire to be happy, to feel good about themselves, and to experience close, positive loving relationships, but often times learned self-sabotaging patterns can get in the way. We help people create the kind of life that they want for themselves by turning away from self-sabotaging behaviors, and turning towards self-caretaking and constructive coping choices for a more fulfilling life.

You're the one: the one who always shows up, says yes, and gets it done, but quietly you're suffering. As a high-achiever you're used to pushing through, but you know that it’s not sustainable. Maybe you’re noticing that your stress and anxiety levels are increasing, your mood isn’t consistent, your energy fluctuates, your sleep isn’t restorative, and you’re not experiencing a sense of vitality in your life. You achieved what you were "supposed to", and yet you don’t feel content or happy. You struggle with burnout from the many roles that you play in your life yet you rarely have time to reset or recover from the chronic stress.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
