Integrative approach using cognitive-behavioral, acceptance and commitment, and psychodynamic therapies.
Perhaps you have been having difficulty trying to manage your symptoms. Maybe you struggle with depressed or anxious feelings and troubling thoughts. You may at times feel overwhelmed or paralyzed by what you are experiencing. You might even have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep because your mind has once again been hijacked by troubling thoughts. Try as you might, you have not been able to obtain much relief from these symptoms and feel it is time to call a professional to help.

I work primarily from the Psychodynamic and Interpersonal lens, though I have been trained in a variety of therapeutic models.
Having lived in different countries (China, England, and the U.S.) and the life of both a “majority” and a “minority”, from marketing to mental health, I am able to connect with people in their diverse life experiences. I see therapy as a relationship between two people committed to face the deeper truths of our lives. I am here to understand your unique personal story, and support you in sorting out complex emotional and relational concerns. The goal is for you to set yourself free from limiting barriers, build emotional resilience, and develop more fulfilling relationships with others.

My primary orientation is a combination of psychodynamic, cognitive processing, and trauma informed.
I practice from a strength-based, insight-oriented, and collaborative approach individualized to meet the unique needs of each client. I offer an empathetic, supportive, and accepting environment for my clients to feel heard and understood while also challenged and inspired to take on new perspectives, ways of thinking, and daily practices. Therapy is a process that can provide tools to relieve immediate stress, but also an opportunity to explore the underlying meanings, behavioral patterns, and relationship dynamics in order to lead a life of authenticity and genuine fulfillment. My clients also strive to positively impact society.

My approach is grounded in my psychodynamic and relational training, which means that we will work together to track the ways your environment has impacted you and the ways you influence your environment.
Accepting new clients! I have had the privilege of working with early to mid-adults of various backgrounds and identities. I am passionate about supporting my clients facing loss, identity development, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Sometimes life catapults us into a new chapter, a new milestone, a new relationship status - filled with both challenge and promise - that we may not have asked for or are finding ourselves struggling with. Together in therapy, I collaborate with my clients to find meaning, awareness, and growth through experiencing the present and deliberately reflecting on patterns of the past.

My clinical identity falls mostly under the psychodynamic umbrella with an affinity for drawing from trauma processing approaches such as EMDR and IFS.
Finding a therapist can seem daunting, though not quite as daunting as a lifetime of emotional discomfort. Lindsey’s approach to psychotherapy is warm and collaborative, empowering her clients to achieve happiness and an unbreakable inner well-being. Clients can speak freely without fear of judgement while feeling truly seen, accepted, and cared for in their darkest moments. We will work together to discover the formation of your unique personality traits, beliefs, and patterns in relationships that contribute to present-day distress, and come up with a plan for how to re-program some problematic patterns.

I practice from a person-centered, relational, and psychodynamic lens, supporting clients in gaining insight into the impact of one's familial, cultural, and societal environment on how we show up and relate to others.
Life is constantly moving and it can be difficult to feel present and get in touch with our authentic selves. It is my goal to support you with warmth and curiosity in navigating the messiness of life, drawing from your own strengths and insights. I aim to foster a down to earth environment in which we can slow down, process, and work together to cultivate a life you can find both meaning and connection within. I enjoy working with young-mid adults through navigating relationships, challenging family dynamics, school and career related stressors, life transitions, grief, and women's issues.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
