Assisted clients with phase of life stressors, depression, anxiety disorders, grief / loss , trauma, and various others.
My approach to therapy is empathic, strength-based and interactive. I believe that a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship while empowering the client is imperative for change. I have been providing therapy since 2000 for adults, couples, and children. My main approach to therapy is to utilize cognitive behavioral theory (CBT) in order to process thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that contribute to distorted thinking and behavior, therefore affecting emotional well-being. The goal is to challenge and reframe so that the client achieves their personal goals, to cope with life transitions and obstacles, and improve mental health

I have had the privilege of working with adults of all ages and various identities. I am passionate about supporting my clients facing loss , identity development, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Sometimes life catapults us into a new chapter - filled with both challenge and promise - that we may not have asked for. As these moments accumulate over time, we find meaning and change through fully experiencing the present and deliberately reflecting on the past. Therapy with me encourages both. My aim is for you to have a space to show up wholly as you, however that may shift from session to session.

Trauma and grief can be some of the most complicated life experiences an individual could go through. Since grief and trauma can take on many forms, they can be challenging to process no matter when they occur. These experiences can lead to a long list of feelings such as pain, frustration, vulnerability, shame, and loneliness. While grieving does not get easier with time, time allows for the adjustment of your new normal. Within my clinical foundation, I gravitate towards incorporating mindfulness and strength-based practices within treatment.

I use a collaborative and client centered approach to treat issues such as grief , loss , anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use/abuse and it's affect on the family, infidelity, intimacy and post divorce issues.
It can be tough to feel seen, heard and understood. Even day-to-day life experiences can be painful if you're feeling alone and vulnerable and the idea of starting or restarting therapy and finding the right fit can be intimidating. You may worry that you wont find a therapist who takes time to understand you and what you're going through without judgement.

I support adults facing anxiety, depression, disturbing memories, grief , break-ups, work-related stress, ADHD, and trauma. I focus on helping all adults, specifically marginalized individuals, to navigate through their life story to identify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that no longer serve them. I assist clients who want to change these negative beliefs into beliefs that are more valid and useful. Examples include: “I should have done something” to “I did the best I could” or “I am not enough” to “I am okay as I am” or “I am not in control” to “I now have choices” or “I cannot trust anyone” to “I can choose whom to trust".

My clinical interests include identity development, family and relationship concerns, trauma, grief , anxiety, depression, and substance use.
Sometimes the way you relate to yourself and others no longer aligns with who you truly are, your values or how you envisioned your life. You may feel disconnected from yourself and others. You may feel anxious or misunderstood, and start to question your worth or love. To cope, you wear a mask to hide parts of yourself, which creates feelings of tension within yourself and with others. What if you lived your life according to your values while accepting and expressing your genuine self? I create a judgement free, safe therapeutic space where you can explore, understand and find your authentic self.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
