I can help you understand the underlying issues and needs that lead to withdrawal or anger, and work with you to re-establish strong bonds. Together we will identify the negative patterns that repeat, learn how to interrupt those and to instead create positive conflict resolution skills. I am passionate about the work I do as a therapist, and I respect each person's struggle and strengths.

Life is hard and sometimes asking for help is even harder. Beginning therapy may be nerve wrecking, but it can be a place to build yourself and the relationships around you. I prioritize creating an environment that is warm, empathetic, interactive and humorous because feeling safe and unjudged is essential for meaningful growth. I work with individuals, couples, and families exploring how patterns and beliefs shape your relationships — including the one you have with yourself.

Many of the clients that I have worked with during the past 30 years have faced stressful life events that have triggered anxiety, depression, and anger. Frequently, these feelings have begun to significantly interfere with relationships, work, and overall sense of self. I provide a safe and respectful relationship that promotes courage and strength to confront and work through these difficult feelings and experiences. By talking with a caring and trained professional, my clients are able to develop new perspectives about themselves and their concerns and this allows them to approach life with increased hope and enjoyment.

I understand that entering therapy is not always an easy task. It takes courage to ask for help. As psychologist Viktor Frankl once said, “In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning, such as the meaning of a sacrifice.” I work to help you find meaning. It’s important to me to provide you with a safe, nurturing environment. I am trained in EMDR, a modality used to help process traumatic memories and the cognitions associated with them.

While life is constantly changing, we are too — evolving, growing, and sometimes struggling to keep up. In a world that often tells us who we should be, it can be hard to explore who we really are. Therapy can be a space to feel seen, not just for who you are now, but for who you're becoming. I work with young adults and teens navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, ADHD, life transitions, shifting family dynamics, anger, and self-esteem. I value diversity and believe our identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences shape how we move and heal. You are worthy of support, capable of growth, and are more than enough.

As a relational, psychodynamic therapist, I believe that healing happens through authentic connection and a deep understanding of early childhood experiences, which set the stage for adult life. I work with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan, offering support through the unique challenges of each life stage. I know that starting therapy can feel intimidating or uncertain, and I’m here to offer a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported, while also challenging you to stay true to your goals.

You’ve worked hard to build a life that looks stable, but inside, you’re wrestling with a voice that isn't yours—the inner critic planted by an emotionally misattuned parent, an abusive partner, or a demeaning boss. Despite your success, imposter syndrome tells you you’re just one mistake away from being "found out." You’re stuck in a cycle of over-functioning and survival mode, trying to outrun the doubt. One moment you’re keyed up and anxious; the next, you’re numb and checked out. I help women break these deeply ingrained relationship patterns and heal the wounds of emotional abuse so they can finally trust their own voice again.

I work to create an atmosphere that is safe for my clients. I may use humor, ask more questions, make comments. As we progress, I will suggest new ways to approach situations and problems. Sometimes I teach my clients relaxation techniques. We talk. I listen. Sometimes I teach or even pray with my clients. In my office, folks are invited to be direct, to be honest, and to know that there will be no judgment of them for revealing their "dark side." Their challenge is reveal who and what they are. Mine is to make it safe.

You Thought This Chapter Would Feel Better Than It Does! You did everything “right.” You finished school. You moved to the city. You got the job. So why do you feel lonely, stuck, and kind of lost? If you’re in your 20s and living in Chicago, you might be asking yourself: Why don’t I feel happier yet? Why does everyone else seem to have it figured out? What if this is all there is? If that sounds like you, you’re not broken — and you’re not alone.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
