I approach my clinical work with a grounding in my deeply-held belief that all human beings have infinite worth. My goal for all individuals with whom I work is to support each person's path towards experiencing that worth within themselves. Having worked in the mental health field for the past 16 years with children, adolescents, adults, and families, I have utilized this philosophy to guide the process of therapy with individuals having a wide range of challenges, from autism spectrum disorders to struggles with mood and anxiety to relationship problems.
If you find that thoughts, feelings, and urges are getting in the way of living your best life, I will help you develop new skills to address these difficulties. Whether you are struggling with intrusive thoughts, motivation difficulties, anxiety or fears about the world or the future, I will create an individualized treatment plan that helps you move forward in life. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), our sessions will examine the factors that are getting in the way before working on concrete steps to overcome these difficulties.

We aren’t meant to go through life alone. We need people around us to celebrate the highs, talk us through the lows, and above all else, we need people to listen and hear us. I truly believe that no problem is too small for therapy and that no one should have to navigate the tough parts of life on their own: I want to hear your story, and I’m here to support you through your journey. Therapy is a collaborative effort that requires us to work together to create goals that will best benefit you, while being mindful of where you’re in that moment.
People seek out a counselor who can guide them--or their child--past their struggles to a better life. They want to get better sooner and stay better longer. For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of helping hundreds of adults, children and adolescents move past problems and achieve their goals --and to make those improvements stick. Some clients face coping with frustration, depression, anxiety, or relationship and family problems. For others, it's dealing with transitions such as divorce, loss and grief, school or relationship challenges, medical problems or job loss. And clients deserve great service.
Is your child or teen struggling with anxiety, depression, parental divorce, making friends, or challenges that come with an Autism Spectrum Disorder? Are you a young adult experiencing a life transition, relationship difficulties or grief and loss? If so, psychotherapy can help. My goal is not to provide strategies that simply lead to short term relief, but to work with you or your child to reduce symptoms quickly, while creating long-lasting change- a process that I believe only occurs in the context of a safe and trusting relationship.
My approach to therapy is integrative and is relationally focused. My lens is existential and focused on finding meaning in what seems to be an increasingly chaotic, meaningless world of information overload, technology, climate change, and social unrest. I believe that mental health goes beyond alleviating symptoms and that we have the capacity to experience greater joy, creativity, meaning, and fulfilling relationships in life. I have interest and experience working with those who identify as LGBTQ+, first-generation college students, and issues of grief, trauma, burnout, loneliness, isolation, career and life transitions.
We deserve to have our unique stories heard. There may be people in your life that you confide in or maybe you feel as if you could never share the reality that you are experiencing. When you struggle, you deserve to have a place to share your ups and downs, free from the opinions of others. As your therapist, I’m here to provide that to you.
I believe that sharing what you are going through with another person can have powerful impacts on your wellbeing. Everyone deserves to have someone to help them work through problems, understand past trauma, and feel seen and heard.
I believe that the purpose of therapy is creating an effective, working relationship where we are constantly striving towards being the very best version of ourselves. Sometimes we get stuck in a rut and need assistance. I am here to support you on your newfound journey. I found my passion for therapy as an undergraduate student at a predominantly White, small-town college in Iowa. While learning about depression and PTSD in a psychology course, I realized there were so many people of color that I knew back in Chicago who struggled with these issues and were not receiving treatment because of issues related to systematic oppression.
Does your toddler, preschooler or elementary school aged child ignore your instructions? Do they whine, argue, fight with siblings, hit, or bite? Are you exhausted, do you have disagreements with your significant other about how to deal with these issues, or are you a single parent feeling overwhelmed and unsupported?
I have worked with clients moving through a variety of issues for over 13 years. I've worked closely with individuals to clarify goals in efforts for client's to grow into their best-self. Communication and Social Skills are two areas of practice I have focused on for over 10 years. I have supported clients with special needs, medical issues, as well as people looking for general direction/advice around life issues.
I am passionate about helping couples with a multitude of presenting concerns including infidelity, sexual dysfunction, financial stress, trust conflicts, and those searching to deepen their connection with their partner or partners. I also enjoy working with individuals to help them navigate anxiety, depression, and relational challenges. I work to create an environment of inclusivity for clients of all races, cultures, genders, sexual orientation and faiths.
We face struggles in life and through introspection, humor, and support, we persevere. From the development and focus on our individual resources, we gain the momentum to overcome. It is my belief that supportive relationships tend to be of utmost value to us when we are faced with struggle. Through these relationships, we find direction.
I work with children and adults to help them understand themselves in relationships, healing, and growth. Clients that I have served work on a variety of concerns: agency in life, healthy boundary setting, socio-emotional wellness, exploration of gender and sexual identity, cultural and/or racial identity, anxious & depressive symptoms, sexual assault/abuse survival, navigating racism/oppression, avoidant behavior, disordered eating, and pandemic fatigue.
There are many factors in life that can affect our emotional well-being and functioning. This can leave us feeling overwhelmed, powerless, or just not our best self. Through a collaborative approach, I aim to help you manage whatever unwanted feelings and symptoms you may be experiencing. No matter how big or small you feel your challenges may be, I believe we can all benefit from taking time out of the busyness of life to focus on ourselves. I am here to support you and empower you during this process.
Strange as it may sound, my ideal client is someone who has been suffering in a profound way and, despite numerous past interactions with mental healthproviders, has yet to fully make sense of themself, let alone remove the obstacles to change and growth that have them stuck. Regarless of what diagnosis a person has been given before, my interest is in what is "behind it." How and why did a person develop the particular maladaptive strategies behind the symptoms comprising what we call a psychological "disorder?' What purpose do they serve, despite the suffering they engender? This is the "need to know" stuff of real change...
