My approach to therapy is informed by mindfulness practices, focused on assisting my clients in "opening up" to the present moment while connecting to their values to strive toward their "Best Self!" I focus on assisting clients in attending to their relational concerns, which allows for them to overcome the emotional distress associated with a history of difficult and painful relationships. I find that it is my duty to establish a safe space where clients feel truly understood. In doing so, I feel honored to be able to "BE" with my clients, as they strive toward growth and empowerment.
Dr. Cull works from an integrative, strength-based model, utilizing her training in systemic, transgenerational and intrapsychic models of change, while also embracing meditation, mindfulness, and more "here and now" cognitive-behavioral skills clients can apply immediately. She easily connects to the similar parts in all of us, while still celebrating our unique individuality. She has an engaging, warm, relational style, and her natural and sometimes witty demeanor creates a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, safe for exploration and recovery.
I provide quality mental health counseling and therapy that is thoughtfully tailored to your needs. Our work together will address concerns in an empowering and centering way that produces substantive change. My approach is connective (Therapy works best when we are able to connect and work well together) and directive (by directive I mean that I give things for you to do during the week like writing, journaling, reading, exercises, reflections, and/or activities). I'm known for being helpful with people who have been through therapy and haven't had success. I help people find aliveness, creativity, and strength.
Counseling can make a positive difference in life with the right support. Committed to making counseling a helpful and productive experience, I utilize a variety of interventions when meeting with adolescents, adults and couples. Identifying current struggles and treatment goals are the first step to assuring success. Specific concerns of substance use, anxiety, depression, relationship stressors, couples counseling, urban dating, divorce recovery and post partum/fertility challenges are my areas of expertise.
You deserve to live a life with a calm and focused mind, a relaxed body, and a sense of wellbeing. Sessions with me involve a collaborative approach to help you improve relationships, ease your racing mind, relax physical tension, and live a more fulfilling and balanced life. Whether it be work stress, trauma, challenging relationships or addictive behaviors, I will help you explore the issues you are facing and cope with crisis better.
My approach to therapy is collaborative and is aimed at helping you develop long-lasting health (both as an individual and in your relationships). I'll help you address individual concerns such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, panic, sleep issues, job fulfillment, and family stress. Initial sessions will involve a thorough intake so I can be sure I understand the breadth of your background and current problems. I will help you construct individualized goals for therapy, and we will agree on how to best work together. I utilize a variety of approaches and techniques including psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
I believe that we all deserve to feel our best and experience joy in our relationships and lives. The therapeutic process can help develop a deeper understanding of our true selves and ourselves in relation to others. Through this understanding growth can occur.
My practice specializes in helping clients heal from the complicated effects of trauma. For many individuals, the ability to trust and feel safe in their relationships, can present significant challenges. My focus is helping individuals and couples overcome these roadblocks and move forward in their lives. I also work with clients to understand how they can interact with family and children to break the cycle of generational trauma, a concern for many individuals who have suffered trauma. In a collaborative environment, clients are able to learn multiple approaches to healing and overcoming the effects of traumatic experiences.
I enjoy working with clients who want to undertake the often rigorous but ultimately rewarding journey of psychotherapy towards self-evolution. This is through the reflection and interpretation of defenses, -blind spots-, that are obstacles to best living. My strengths are working with people who take responsibility for their lives but are struggling in moving forward due to painful or distressing life situations, whether past or current. My approach offers no magic remedies, but through conversation based on respect and straightforward comments, together we aim to improve your quality of life.
Are you finding it difficult to manage the many roles in your life? It can be challenging when handling the multiple demands of husband, wife, employer, employee, caretaker, mentor, sibling, friend, volunteer and neighbor etc. Sometimes, it is hard to breathe because our minds are constantly thinking about what we have not accomplished for the day, the week and even for the future. This anxiety can impact the way that we navigate through life and can also affect our relationships.
Life is full of both joyful experiences as well as difficult and painful ones. Caitlin believes everyone can benefit from therapy, whether they seek personal growth or are in need of support through a trying time or transition. She employs a safe, non-judgmental space where she collaborates with clients to identify areas of focus and then provides treatment tailored specifically to them.
I view therapy as the process of investing in your growth as a person, a parent, and a partner. I have worked alongside people who have overcome their pain and suffering by focusing on a plan that centers on their strengths and resources. Our work could include a focus on how to build confidence, increase coping skills, process pain from the past, and learn to tolerate uncertainty about the future. Overall, I truly believe that with support and understanding, you have the ability and resilience to achieve your goals of wellness and health.
I believe your well being is all about you - your progress, your presence, your potential, and your peace. The pace of life is dizzying and often disorienting even for the healthiest person. We all bump up against obstacles and events that cause us to pause, reflect and assess the road we are traveling. Sometimes the moment is brief. At other times it is protracted and complicated. I'm here to explore life's turns and detours so that, together, we may restore these moments for a useful purpose.
I offer practical, solution-focused goal-oriented psychotherapy aimed at timely symptom relief and problem resolution. My clients, being adults, determine their own therapy goals and agenda. My style is respectful, but interactive. I do not tell my clients what to do but I will always tell you honestly how I feel about the things that you present. I believe therapy should be time-limited and results-oriented, NOT a life-long continuous process. I believe that people can change, or else I would not be in this business. I delight in helping people master the tools which facilitate desired change.
We live in a culture where we deal with daily stress and sometimes trauma based on our marginalized identities, whether they be race, gender, sexual orientation, class, or ability level. Combine that with the ongoing effects of the pandemic and the stress of the constant negative news feed, and it becomes easy to feel overwhelmed and lose our balance. Having been in practice for 18 years and tuned into the ways in which our culture affects us all, I'm here to help. Reaching out to a therapist can be scary. I work to create an open, judgement-free environment where we will work on your problems collaboratively.
I help clients with their journey to become one's ideal self. I am an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) practicing psychotherapy. I also enjoy working with college students, new graduates, and career changers faced with anxiety due to their life transition(s) which can bring on stress, depression, and/or anxiety with the many questions centering around, “What am I going to do next in my life?"
