My specialty areas include depression , anxiety, bipolar disorder, general mood disorders, selective mutism and post-traumatic stress disorder.
I love my work and I am thrilled to be a part of the global community that strives to bring an effective blend of experience, expertise, clarity, concern and action to the counseling process in order to provide genuine healing and wholeness to children, young adults, adults, marriages, and families. Over the last six years or so I have learned wonderful attachment therapies like Theraplay. This model, along with different Expressive therapy approaches, and EMDR protocols, have increased my desire to continue learning to be able to integrate the different trauma-informed practice with neuroscience.

I understand the healing process as one of self-determination through therapeutic empathy. Being curious while employing sensitive honesty makes me a good fit for people who are open to exploring deeper personal and interpersonal connections. The lens of attachment, psychodynamic theory, and existential thought within ecological and systemic perspectives help me appreciate the pressures that impact quality of life issues. I am interested in working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds who find themselves struggling in relationships, depression , anxiety, complex trauma, psychosis, and grief/loss.

I have years of experience and training in a range of areas including: complex generational trauma, issues related to adolescence, issues related to foster care / adoption, school / college-related problems, parental support, family / relational conflicts, depression , anxiety, feelings of isolation, and major life transitions.
My therapeutic style focuses on safety and empowerment. While I may be the “professional,” you are the expert of your own life. To establish trust, I wear my heart on my nerdy sleeve. I would never ask you to risk your vulnerability if I am unwilling to risk my own. I may use humor to foster hope and ease discomfort. I welcome you to question my perspectives to improve the power of our co-created insights. We will collaborate and develop ways for you to make new choices, break old patterns, and build more effective supports. Our work will help you unlock your potential for healing, and get you closer to the person you want to be.

My areas of experience range from Parenting, Children/Teens, Anxiety, Depression , Stress Management, Grief/Loss, Anger, Guilt, Addictions, Mental Disorders, Trauma and Violence, to Abuse, Neglect and Abandonment issues, Family Problems, Pre-Marital, Marital Problems, Divorce, Remarriage, Financial, Vocational, and Self-Esteem issues.
At some point in our lives we will experience emotional and psychological distress. Most people will try to avoid or go through their distress without seeking help. People choose to do this because they are not sure how therapy will help them. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative, co-creative process between the client and therapist. If you or your family have been experiencing symptoms of depression , anxiety, or just going through difficult times, please allow me to support and guide you in the healing process. Together, we can face and overcome life's stressors! Weekend and evening hours are available!

I work well with adult children of alcoholics, transitions (relationship, career, lifestage), occupational issues, trauma, depression , anxiety, panic, fertility, postpartum, and family/relationship issues.
I offer practical, solution-focused goal-oriented psychotherapy aimed at timely symptom relief and problem resolution. My clients, being adults, determine their own therapy goals and agenda. My style is respectful, but interactive. I do not tell my clients what to do but I will always tell you honestly how I feel about the things that you present. I believe therapy should be time-limited and results-oriented, NOT a life-long continuous process. I believe that people can change, or else I would not be in this business. I delight in helping people master the tools which facilitate desired change.

My specialties include health psychology, parent training skills for families, addressing depression and trauma with both brief interventions and object relations approaches, life transition concerns for adolescents and young adults, culturally informed treatment for Latino, Latinx, and LGTBQ identified folks, and clinical supervision.
I view therapy as the process of investing in your growth as a person, a parent, and a partner. I have worked alongside people who have overcome their pain and suffering by focusing on a plan that centers on their strengths and resources. Our work could include a focus on how to build confidence, increase coping skills, process pain from the past, and learn to tolerate uncertainty about the future. Overall, I truly believe that with support and understanding, you have the ability and resilience to achieve your goals of wellness and health.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
