My approach to therapy is best described as integrative, combining elements of mindfulness -based cognitive-behavioral therapy (MBCT), interpersonal process, and analysis of behaviors.
I am an experienced therapist and welcome those struggling with stress, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, adjustment issues, and relationship concerns. I value a strengths-based approach and the active collaborative work of forming new coping skills whether it be to manage general work/life stress or a mental health condition. I work with adult individuals, recognizing that life often requires adjustments in the way we view ourselves, others, and our world. I help clients navigate these transitions.

I believe everyone has the potential for growth. Sometimes circumstances, trauma, unhelpful thinking, or other challenges can hinder that process. My clinical practice focuses on individual therapy with adults. I see the various aspects of a client’s life such as social, spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and financial/work as interconnected. I have clinical experience working with clients experiencing trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, grief, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions.

I am constantly studying the newest research in counseling, mindfulness and neurobiology.
I have worked with people from all walks of life for over two decades. I am goal-oriented, like to get to the point, and work with you to offer real-life solutions, instead of staying stuck in the past. Yes, I'm compassionate and gently curious too, but I like to get down to nitty-gritty and get you feeling better ASAP. I also have a degree in philosophy and enjoy helping people look for meaning in their lives if that is what they need to feel better about themselves

My treatment style is integrative and borrows from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness , and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
My ideal client comes from many walks of life. They are children, teenagers, and adults and present with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, relationship and family problems, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), school problems, and oppositional-defiant disorder. They all share a common need to be heard, empowered, and guided on the path of recovery. I provide evidence-based treatments tailored to the needs of my clients. While I often work in the present moment through using mindfulness and coping skills to manage immediate needs, I understand the impact our histories have on our sense of self and current challenges.
I became a therapist because I believe that change is always possible, and that humans have an inherent ability to heal and transform when they feel safe, heard, and connected. I understand that sometimes patterns of thinking, difficult emotions, or past circumstances feel like they pull us away from living life fully. In session, I will work with you to identify your strengths, increase self-compassion, create safety in your body, and expand your capacity to respond in the face of life’s difficult moments. I'm also a big believer in the power of humor, and encourage you to bring your full selves into our work together.

I am driven to focus on relational conflict, family sculpting with blended families and single-parent, men and women’s issues, communities of color, intergenerational trauma, systemic racism, and mindfulness .
There is power in seeking the help of others along our journey, and it is my hope that therapy can represent a unique healing environment, focused on your reality and your needs. The change that we all seek lies within our stories being validated and understood. As we witness the power of our stories in light of culture, race, gender, sexual orientation, and other intersections of identity through therapy, we partner in using your strengths to lessen your limitations. By developing your self-awareness, we can work to heal from past wounds, develop more understanding of your Self and those around you, and create better relationships.

I use a variety of approaches including Adlerian psychotherapy, positive psychology, and mindfulness techniques.
Do you question yourself about your relationships, your work or your life in general? Do these same questions come up for you over and over with ever increasing emotional distress or a feeling of low grade but chronic sadness? Do you yearn for a different experience and do your usual methods to regain your balance, direction, and sense of well-being work only sporadically or not at all? My wish for anyone experiencing this kind of pain and distress is to give therapy a chance to make that significant difference.

I’ll show you tools and strategies including mindfulness , self-compassion, distress tolerance, & emotion regulation to navigate overwhelming moments.
I specialize in working with women who work really hard to make sure everything looks okay on the outside when it doesn’t feel that way on the inside. Clients who come to me are often overwhelmed with pressure to get things perfect and struggle with feeling “enough”, some experiencing imposter syndrome. They often feel an imbalance in their lives and are quick to sacrifice self-care for others or in the face of stress. They feel their emotions strongly and sometimes feel controlled by them, leaving them often emotionally and physically drained. My clients are ready to create change in their lives & feel more peace of mind.

I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental and supportive space for individuals to explore their challenges. This means that I believe in the importance of understanding your background influences and experiences and how they impact your current circumstances; at the same time, I can offer a variety of evidence-based skills (DBT, ACT, mindfulness ) to help you apply what you learn in therapy to your daily life.
I am a co-owner of SpringSource Psychological Center, and we have several excellent clinicians with immediate availability. The decision to seek therapy is a courageous one, and I have the utmost respect for individuals who take this step. I believe therapy can be life changing. Whether you are in need of short-term support and solutions to move through a difficult time in your life, or whether you seek the opportunity to do more intensive, longer term work on habitual patterns, therapy can be crafted to your individual needs.

I use Brainspotting, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, inner child work, breath work, mindfulness , CBT, and 12-Step principles to holistically guide clients.
You may feel increasingly more anxious, emotional, or depressed. Life may even feel unmanageable. You might find yourself trying to fill internal voids with external things, such as substances, food, sex, or relationships. Experiences from your past could leave you feeling stuck in your present. Change can be terrifying, and taking that first step may feel really scary.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
