As a therapist, I work collaboratively with my clients in processing their experiences and finding healthy and productive ways to solve problems as well as gain insight into the reasons for maladaptive behaviors. In the treatment process, I encourage clients to formulate their own treatment goals and we will work together to find ways to achieve these goals via modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Solutions-focused interventions. I see my role as one of support, guidance, active listening, and empowering the client to develop positive coping mechanisms in the process of making changes to thoughts and behaviors.

The road to good mental health can be rife with obstacles consisting of navigating social systems, relationships and uncertainties. Years ago, I studied elements of society by riding an entire train route for a school assignment. While traveling through diverse city landscapes and observing fellow travelers, I observed how human behavior changed with time and settings. This experience inspired me to reflect on my own identities and how I interact and engage with the world around me. This observation also helped me define my career path as a supportive guide for others, as the journey to self-discovery should not be an isolated one.

While I received my degrees many years ago and much has changed in my field, I have stayed current in my knowledge of Psychology. Alexi Peters MA, LCPC is a sex-positive, fat positive, queer ttheirapist. They take a warm yet honest approach to therapy strategically supporting clients in achieving their personal and interpersonal goals through actionable work. Alexi primarily utilizes narrative therapy, DBT, and RODBT to work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, panic, trauma, eating disorders, body image, LGBTQIA+ and sexual health, including gender identity and gender affirming needs.
