I enjoy helping people with challenging family dynamics, life transitions, stressful school situations, and personal growth.
I provide a safe, calm, and compassionate space for you to connect deeply with your own insight. From a young age, we often develop patterns and dynamics that no longer serve us as adults. In therapy, we work together to uncover your authentic self in all its beauty. Let's walk the path to rediscovering your curiosity, creativity, confidence, and clarity.

I have experience working with a variety of mood (depression and bipolar), anxiety (phobias and panic) and adjustment disorders as well as the impact medical and psychiatric conditions can have on one's life and family. I enjoy helping people get to the other side of life transitions, like healing from divorce, changing jobs or careers, or caregiving stress. And for people already recovering from addiction (yours or someone else's), I bring a deep understanding of 12 Step recovery to the therapeutic experience.

I also work with parents who are in need of support or assistance with changing their parenting styles and family dynamics.
I believe in the importance of building a therapeutic relationship and comfortable environment and therefore believe in being authentic and realistic with clients. I find this to be especially important in working with adolescents, young adults, families, and those who hav experienced trauma. I enjoy getting to understand their prospective and being able to advocate for them as well as to teach them to advocate for themselves and learn the skills that they need to communicate more effectively with others. I also believe that working with families and parents creates more success for everyone and therefore facilitate more change.

Hi, I’m Gabriela (she/ her/ ella)! Our work in therapy is about the core essence of what it means to be human, to love, to hurt, to hurt others, and to help. I am rooting for you! I know that what brings you here may feel overwhelming, but this is the first step. I believe therapy should be collaborative and inclusive. I bring a lot of energy and humor as well as compassion and understanding to my sessions.

I recognize the many life challenging struggles an individual can be faced with. Therapy can be viewed as stigmatizing and can discourage people to seek mental health support. It is very important for people to choose to seek help on their own and not be forced. A person should want to feel supported and encouraged when going through these struggles and choosing therapy can be one of those benefits.

I believe that the beginning of a person’s healing journey starts with creating a safe, collaborative, and supportive therapeutic space that can pave the way toward restorative growth. The foundation of my therapeutic work stems from understanding how life experiences and everyday stressors impact the way we engage with the world. With an intentional focus on individuals’ stories, I use tools that aid in bottom-up trauma processing through a relational approach, building greater awareness and insight.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
