I work primarily with people who are struggling through adjustment to different phases of life and/or are experiencing
anxiety
and depression.
Life doesn't always make sense, which is why I sought my own therapy for the first time in my mid-twenties. That therapist and that experience is what brought me to the field as a provider. I have been in the field for more than a decade; licensed since 2020. I specialize in teens and young adults, but love working with adults of all ages.

Currently, the
anxiety
, fear and grief we feel from the Coronavirus can turn serious, threatening your mental health.
You’ve experienced some traumatic events in your life. Immediately afterwards, you might feel shock and denial. Longer term reactions might be unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea. It can be hard to move on with life. I can help you find positive ways to manage your emotions. I am trained in trauma treatment and in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distresses that are the result of disturbing life experiences.

I have the most experience working with individuals with depression,
anxiety
, trauma, school-related issues, self-esteem, anger, ADHD, and bullying.
I really enjoy working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I love helping others realize their strengths and focus on reaching their goals. I often approach therapy with the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy tools although I am able to incorporate other interventions as needed. Providing a warm and inviting environment where individuals can feel safe and comfortable is very important to me in treatment. Christian faith-based therapy is something else I provide when clients want to utilize their spirituality in their treatment.

Trauma looks like
anxiety
, depression, substance abuse, rage, or
panic
attacks.
Do you believe if you allow yourself to feel your feelings you will go crazy? Or not be able to handle them? Do you numb yourself with substances, sex, gambling, etc.? Are you finding it hard to stay present? Are your relationships hurtful, abusive or disconnected? Are you so full of shame, regret and remorse that you can barely look at yourself in the mirror? Do you feel broken? If you said "yes" to any of these questions most likely you have experienced some sort of trauma in the past. Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event/s that overwhelms an individual's ability to cope. Trauma hurts.

It seems like everyone else’s child has it all together and you feel scared and alone. It feels like the situation is never going to get better and you worry constantly about the future of your child. You never thought you would be in this place and you can’t seem to find your way out. All you want to do is help your child. As a parent, one of the most difficult tasks we face is to watch our children and teens struggle. Parenting an adolescent who is struggling with

The goal of counseling is to help people make meaningful change to improve overall well-being. A good therapist should meet you where you are at, help you identify stressors, then work with you to develop the coping skills that result in positive change. Confronting suffering can be difficult, whether that suffering come in the form of
anxiety
or depression, relationship struggles, substance abuse, or the stresses and worries of daily life.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
