Men's Issues Therapists in Calumet City, IL
Therapy isn't about having all the answers, it's about building the skills and mindset to face what's hard. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and problem gambling, helping them move through life's challenges with more steadiness and self-trust. My approach is highly collaborative: you're the expert on your own life, and my job is to bring evidence-based tools you can actually use in real-time when things get difficult. Together, we build emotional regulation skills, work toward greater self-awareness, and develop the resilience to handle whatever life brings next.

I have lived in Chicago for the past 10 years and have been a therapist and social worker during that time. I got my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas. For hobbies, I love playing soccer, reading, speaking Spanish, and gardening. My therapeutic orientation is born out of my desire to answer life's big questions and love of philosophy. I'll start by asking you some basic questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to therapy, what you're hoping to get out of it, and a bit about your background.

My clients are capable, responsible adults come to me feeling stretched thin and quietly overwhelmed. They’re dependable and competent, yet often feel like they’re not doing enough...at work or at home. They carry more than their share and struggle to ask for help. Many learned early to equate worth with responsibility. In our work, real shifts happen: less self-doubt, clearer boundaries, reduced reactivity, and a steadier sense of self. They stop running on empty and begin living with intention, not pressure.

Maybe performance anxiety is holding you back, or shame around your sexual behaviors, relationship with porn, or masturbation habits is weighing you down. These struggles can be isolating, but you don’t have to navigate them alone.

Life asks a lot of us and most people in this world are doing the best they can with the tools they have. Maybe you are feeling sad, on-edge, angry, grief-stricken, burnt out, or just like things have been really heavy lately? I want to help get you back to feeling like yourself. You deserve to feel better.
Sometimes, we just need a few more tools in the toolbox, and to work with someone who accepts us, challenges us, and walks with us through the stuff we are facing.
I really enjoy working with folks who: want to get to know themselves more; may struggle with boundaries or people-pleasing; and/or who "grew up too fast" as a kid.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
