You may look like you’re holding it together on the outside — but on the inside you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or emotionally stuck. If anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief has been weighing you down, therapy can help you feel grounded again and move forward with clarity and confidence. In our work together, you can expect a supportive space that is honest, practical, and focused on real change. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with experiential techniques to help you build coping skills, process what you’ve been through, and create healthier patterns in your life.

My approach is compassionate and collaborative, grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. I draw on a trauma-informed, harm reduction lens that prioritizes autonomy, reduces shame, and encourages self-reflection.

I specialize in working with individuals with eating disorders, trauma and addictions I believe entering into a therapeutic relationship is scary for many, asking for help is not easy nor is risking trusting. You've been relying on a substance: whether it's alcohol, drugs, or behaviors that go with your eating disorder. A part of you wants to stop but you realize that you are not in control, you've lost the power of choice. Profound shame goes hand to hand with addiction and shame interferes with asking for help. Addictions/eating disorders rob a person of being fully alive asking for help is vital, we cannot recover alone.

I’m drawn to this work because I know how easy it is to lose connection with yourself while trying to push through, overthink, or hold everything together. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and self aware, but still feel stuck in patterns that are hard to shift on their own. You might be moving through a life transition, trying to make sense of who you are becoming, managing ongoing stress or anxiety, or dealing with a body that feels tense, overwhelmed, or impacted by chronic illness or pain.

You don’t have to go through this alone—therapy can be a place to finally breathe and find clarity. In our work together, you will be invited into a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore what matters to you most. At the heart of my work is the belief that healing begins when we feel seen, heard, and accepted just as we are. Therapy with me is less about fixing what’s “wrong” and more about rediscovering your own inner wisdom, courage, and sense of direction.

I’m a clinical psychologist with 15 years of experience helping people manage stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable, and caring, yet find themselves at a point where life feels heavier than it used to. They may be facing major transitions, relationship struggles, or realizing they’ve neglected their own needs. My goal is to help you understand yourself more deeply and feel empowered to handle life’s challenges. I want therapy to be a space where you build clarity and confidence, reconnect with your truest self, and move forward with a stronger sense of direction and purpose.

Authenticity is a core value in my life, both personally and professionally. I aspire to bring my authentic self to each session, and I do not pretend to be a “blank slate.” Sessions with my clients are not about me, but I do not pretend to be a person without real-life experience to meet therapeutic norms.

You might be managing anxiety, burnout, or body image concerns while looking “fine” on the outside. You may feel overwhelmed by relationship stress, identity questions, or the pressure to keep it all together. If you’re tired of over-functioning and want a space where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself, or code-switch, therapy can help you slow down, reconnect, and feel more like you again.

That means that I am very interested in what you say and want to get to know and understand what makes you feel how you feel. My most important task is to get to understand your perspectives on things and how you feel about your life.

I work with clients who may be struggling with depression or trauma related to their relationships or family. During our initial sessions, we will delve deeply into the issues at hand, and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you increase self- awareness to get your life back in an improving and transformative way. Most of my clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first months and sustained improvement thereafter

When people think of abuse they don't think of the name calling, the verbal assaults, or the days on end of the silent treatment. No one thinks of the hyper-criticisms, the sarcastic put-downs, the lack of affection, and invariably high expectations for perfection. Not many consider the hyper-vigilance, the nightmares, the gaslighting, the eating disorders, the body image distress, and the low self-esteem that comes from years of walking on eggshells. When people think of abuse, they do not often consider the kind that leaves no marks; which can make it even more difficult to talk about, or trust another person to understand.

I bring over a decade of professional expertise to therapy along with my own life experiences, empathy, understanding and hopefully a little humor along the way. When working with you (licensed in WI, MN, IL) I recognize the many roles you take on in day to day life. By using a client-centered approach, I will support you in your journey of emotional growth and well-being. More than anything, while my license is as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I aim to live my own life as authentically and intentionally as I can as a parent, family member and friend. I strive to bring that same authenticity and intentionality to our sessions.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
