Being a therapist is a huge responsibility that I do not take lightly. I know that being vulnerable in therapy can be a challenge. The change process can also be difficult. Having said that, I do this work because I have seen change and healing happen throughout my career. Before this process can begin, it is useful to know the underlying contributing factors to the problem (s); as those factors should influence therapy. It can be difficult to change something that you do not understand.

I have over 25 years experience providing outpatient therapy and providing integrated psychological services in a large area hospital system. I specialize in Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine. With an emphasis on behavioral health using supportive, cognitive-behavioral therapy, I see patients with anxiety, stress, depression, chronic pain and fibromyalgia, eating disorders, weight loss, smoking cessation, headaches, marital discord, family discord, issues of aging, grief and loss, the psychological aspects of cancer treatment, coping with medical conditions, and managing diabetes. I am also a DBT therapist.

Our approach to therapy is genuine, supportive, and solution-focused. We work collaboratively with you to build upon your strengths and find new ways to face challenges that lead to a more content and balanced life. Our experienced therapists treat ages 6 and older and use evidence-based treatments for a wide range of concerns, such as mood swings, suicidal thoughts, self-harm urges, impulsivity, emotional reactivity, post-traumatic stress, difficulties in relationships, ineffective communication, anger, anxiety, depression, grief, life changes, and substance abuse.

I have extensive experience working with parents and children experiencing separation and divorce. Additionally, I teach workshops and classes in the areas of conflict transformation, communication skills, and divorce. In the collaborative law process, I serve as a child specialist and coach.

I rely heavily on scientific findings to facilitate human change. There are varieties of effective traditional and modern psychological treatments such or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Cognitive behavioral therapy is the gold standard for anxiety, depressions, phobias and fears.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been working in private practice with individuals and couples for over 26 years. I specialize in the treatment of depression and anxiety.
