Don't settle for a generic drug and alcohol therapist. You deserve help that actually helps you feel happy again. (And, that's in-network with your insurance).

I’m a licensed social worker with a background in community health, where I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring diagnoses. Before that, I spent 6 years working as a Sheriff's Deputy in a correctional setting. My approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based practice. I have a special interest in working with young men who are figuring out their path, as well as first responders and caretakers. These individuals often carry the burdens of others, therefore I want to create an environment where they can have a space that belongs solely to them.

If you have been putting off getting help to make changes, reach out. Whether you want to not feel afraid anymore, change your drinking/substance use, or go deeper after substance use treatment, I focus on the person in front of me and what you want to accomplish, providing space for you to explore why you feel stuck, whether therapy is for you, how to cope when life feels overwhelming, why similar situations happen over and over. If you have hesitated to acknowledge these issues in the past, reach out.

Hello! I've been seeing folks individually and in groups since 2015 in a variety of settings. I have experience working with people with complex medical issues, family dynamics, relationship challenges, and self-esteem issues. In my experience, the root of what you want to address in therapy takes a while to reveal itself - whether or not you have specific goals in mind. We will patiently figure that out, and I invite ambiguity and humor and creativity into our sessions to do that. I disclose my experiences and thoughts about your statements transparently.

My ideal client has faced trauma, addiction, or instability but still hopes for change. They may feel overwhelmed or unsure, yet they’re seeking safety, healing, and direction. They want stability, self-worth, and healthier relationships. They don’t need to be fixed, they need to be seen, heard, and supported. I meet clients where they are, offering trauma-informed care, structure, and compassion. Together, we work toward peace, purpose, and the belief that they are capable of lasting change.

I provide quality mental health counseling and therapy that is thoughtfully tailored to your needs. Our work together will address concerns in an empowering and centering way that produces substantive change. My approach is connective (Therapy works best when we are able to connect and work well together) and directive (by directive I mean that I give things for you to do during the week like writing, journaling, reading, exercises, reflections, and/or activities). I'm known for being helpful with people who have been through therapy and haven't had success. I help people find aliveness, creativity, and strength.

My ideal client may be navigating substance use challenges, trauma, anxiety, or mood disorders, often carrying the weight of stigma or systemic barriers. They may be rebuilding after incarceration or seeking to reshape their identity beyond society’s labels. Their goals are rooted in hope—healing, self-discovery, stability, and empowerment. They want to break cycles, build resilience, and move toward lives aligned with their values, strengths, and dreams. They come ready to do the hard work of change and are seeking a supportive, nonjudgmental space to be seen and heard fully.

We all find ourselves at times in our life that we require nurturance to help us through life's changes. Loss in our lives requires care and guidance by a professional. Loss may be defined in various ways, it may be death, divorce, depression, addictions, infidelity, anxiety, infertility just to name a few. I work to specifically assist individuals, couples, families and groups to alleviate emotional disorders, to understand conscious and unconscious motivation, to resolve emotional, relationship and attitudinal conflicts and to help modify behaviors that interfere with effective emotional, social adaptive, and intellectual functioning.

Accepting new clients: Daytime availability. As humans, we experience an endless amount of transitions, highs, and lows that come to define who we are. In this process, we may find ourselves struggling with anxiety, depression, and fear of the unknown. In an effort to cope with these challenges, we often develop patterns of thinking and behaving that often don't serve us or honor our unique strengths and resiliency. In my practice, I work with individuals to create meaning from challenging experiences and to develop coping strategies that allow them to live with a greater sense of peace, personal power, and authenticity.

Alcohol Use Therapists
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
