I enjoy helping people to feel more control over their lives. I am very curious about people’s stories. How can we edit our thoughts to feel better? Is there a different way to think about this problem? Sometimes I use humor to lighten the mood, but I will always uphold professional boundaries. In fact, I love to teach ways to set clear boundaries in our families and our workplaces. I have worked with many trauma survivors, and they describe feeling less trapped in shame spirals, with more confidence and fewer flashbacks.
I originally trained as a play therapist with a focus on family dynamics and trauma treatment. Over the years, I trained in CBT and more advanced trauma work with adults. I still work with many young people — but now that I’m in my 40s, I can offer more wisdom to adults, too. I believe my personal experiences with life’s struggles have enriched my work.
It’s OK if you feel “awkward” about the first call or appointment — once you listen to my own awkward voicemail recording, you will feel instant relief. I love to laugh and put people at ease. In my personal life, I’m married, with two kids (elementary and jr high ages), and I love to run, eat cheese, and play with my kids and pets.
