Life’s chaos and competing needs are hard enough, don’t walk it alone. Rather than feeling alone and overwhelmed, let me help you find space to be heard, seen, and understood. Using my training in Perinatal Mental Health, I enjoy working with women in all life stages. Many people struggle with anxiety and depression as they cope with life's uncertainties. We are all redefining "normal." My training in CBT, EMDR, Strengths Centered, and Person Centered Therapy with men, women , children, elders, and caregivers is well rounded. People are dealing with trauma, abuse, employment issues, grief, mental illness, addiction, co-dependency, physical illness, parenting, divorce, retirement, and loss of identity. Everyone wants to know they have a "purpose." I specialize in helping clients with their journey. Most people want to feel safe, loved, understood, and appreciated. I can help with that.

As a spiritual and depth oriented psychotherapist, I view the struggles and challenges of life as opportunities for growth and transformation. I work with my clients to help them recognize and transmute unconscious limiting beliefs that may be obscuring access to the truth of who they are. We work toward releasing these beliefs in order to allow for a healing connection to the wisdom and resources of the inner Self. I work well with individual adults who are looking for transformation and are motivated to change.

My ideal client would be someone who wants to work on her/his/their personal growth and happiness. Someone who knows I'm not a guru, but an experienced clinician who can assist them in finding their strengths and using the same baby-steps they used in the past to bring a goal or a dream to fruition.

I provide counseling to individuals, families, and couples who may be experiencing Anxiety, Depression, Grief/Loss, Relationship or Parenting concerns and/or Life Transitions. I also help adults, children, couples and caregivers navigate the many difficulties and emotions surrounding Chronic or Terminal Illness. As a Therapist, I take a client-centered approach; meeting the client where they are at. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to identify potentially destructive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Clients can then explore and develop healthier coping strategies which will lead to a better quality of life. There is HOPE!

Working with a wide age range of clients & problems requires a unique set of skills. Play, art, & music therapy are often utilized with children as young as 4, while more traditional therapy can be helpful with adults. Concerns address in session may include: anger, attention, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, ect. Psychological evaluations are conducted to evaluate a variety of concerns. Helping each client develop skills to positively cope with current struggles and improve their ability to conquer these problems in the future is my goal.

“We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.” - Brene Brown. Sometimes life gets hard, and there are times we are unable to verbalize what we are going through. Other times, we just want to avoid and not feel it all— something that we are not meant to do but we all commonly do.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
