I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with 18 years experience working with children, tweens, teens, adolescents, young adults and their families. We can all agree that at every age and stage of life we encounter hurdles. As we attempt to negotiate these hurdles they may bring about anxiety, depression , anger, academic and other school-related struggles, emotional struggles, trauma, eating disorders, self-harm (cutting), grief, executive functioning difficulties and self-esteem issues. As we address and manage these conditions we find ourselves, often times, needing help to do so.

My focus is to empower women to overcome their fears and face life challenges with confidence. Together we can discover your strengths and develop new ways to approach and solve problems and transform your life from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Once a woman understands herself and is able to recognize her triggers that hold her back from living up to her potential that is the beginning of the healing process and unleashing the power within.

If you are reading this you have taken your first step toward positive change! For some, the thought of therapy can be intimidating. However, finding the "right fit" in a client/therapist relationship is essential to sharing your feelings and overcoming your fears. In a safe, positive environment you can accomplish your goals and move towards a better, happier life. I promote an atmosphere of exceptance, no matter what you are experiencing....anxiety, depression , stress over life transitions, fear or shame, sharing traumatic events, or relationship issues. I also have extensive experience with children and adolescents regarding the following issues; Major Depression (and related mood disorders); Anxiety; Obsessive Compulsive (and related disorders); Behavior Disorders; Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder; Self-Esteem; and a wide range of situational stressors that children and adolescents struggle with at home and school.
I work collaboratively with my clients to expand their insight into all the relevant factors and/or influences that are keeping them from reaching their full potential. These factors often include, but are not limited to; the identified stressor(s) that brought them into therapy; the effectiveness (or lack of effectiveness) of their current coping strategies; the influence past experiences and physical discomfort can have on their decision making and behavior; and increasing his or her awareness of their individual strengths and weakness. Simply put, I systematically help my clients make appropriate changes needed to meet their identified treatment goals.

My counseling practice specializes in adult therapy. My skills are especially strong in helping adults navigate through anxiety, depression , role and life changes, chronic illness, losses and grief. My clients frequently refer others to my practice. I identify a client's existing strengths. These strengths and new "life tools" are incorporated into therapy next steps. Our meetings are interactive and collaborative. Clients begin to see self as part of the solution. This encourages confidence and hope in life decisions and transitions. I bring warmth, knowledge and encouragement to each session.

As a therapist, I specialize in treating anxiety, depression , addiction, and anger-related issues in adults and teens.
People seek therapy for a variety of reasons. Their reasons may range from mild relationship difficulties to more severe problems that affect their ability to work, love, and enjoy life. Although I use empirically-supported techniques, I do not believe in “cookie-cutter” approaches. In collaboration with my clients, I work to tailor interventions that are consistent with my clients’ goals and values. There is no "one size fits all" approach, but I draw most heavily on mindfulness-enhanced cognitive behavioral therapy. I teach people to see the connections between situations, thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.

I have experience in mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy which has been used with clients who have identified experiencing depression and anxiety.
My approach with clients usually ranges between goal-oriented and psychodynamic. We can address specific areas of improvement non-judgmentally. We can explore early childhood experiences or address traumatic events and how to move forward while challenging negative thoughts and beliefs along the way. With the treatment centered around the client’s needs, I also acknowledge intersections between race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and other cultural aspects of the client.

More specifically, the areas of anxiety, depression , and life transitions are my specialty.
Telling a stranger intimate details about your life can feel awkward and terrifying, so if you're reading this, I believe it took courage to get here. Counseling can help name experiences and feelings, learn tools, and unlearn behaviors and thoughts that served a purpose at one point of time but are no longer helpful. I love helping individuals grow in awareness, resilience, and experience life more authentically.

Rooted in a Family Systems approach, I have experience with depression , anxiety, loss/grief, life changes, infidelity, relational distress, blended families, co-parenting and stress management.
At any time in our lives, we may experience distance between where we are and where we'd like to be. Obstacles can sometimes stand in our way, and prevent us from achieving and living the life that we long for. I work with individuals and couples in a collaborative process to explore these obstacles, and to challenge old patterns and beliefs that may no longer be necessary, while finding new ways of thinking and living. With much compassion and understanding, I work with clients to facilitate healing and growth, grounded in a desire to empower others to achieve their goals, and to be brave, while deeply-rooted in hope.

I also work with individuals who are experiencing depression , anxiety, trauma, anger, domestic violence survivors, individuals who identify with the LGBTQ+ community and grief.
At times we find ourselves experiencing problems and difficulties. We may respond in ways to barely get by and keep moving forward. Sometimes we struggle to feel a sense of belonging or feel consumed with negative thoughts and emotions. Maybe it’s our past that is keeping us from being in the present moment or it’s adding to our overall stress. In therapy, we can identify new ways to cope with difficulties and other life struggles that may be hurting our overall health or relationships.

If you, or a person close to you are experiencing a life transition, dealing with loss, experiencing communication difficulties, and/or feeling unpleasant emotions such as depression or anxiety, Lilly is here to help.
Sometimes during your journey in life, or in the journeys of persons close to us, we get lost. Ideally, there is a book nearby when lost that tells us specifically how to solve life's challenges. If such a book exists, I've not encountered one. During such times, the practice of psychotherapy is often the "book" and answers we seek. Lilly is a licensed clinical professional counselor who provides therapy for adolescents, adults and families. Her caring and energetic approach involves collaboration with clients and if applicable, families. She integrates all aspects of a person to best help.

Fighting depression , anxiety, addiction, PTSD, etc is not an easy task.
After spending 14 years learning about the human brain and mind, was trained extensively in various treatments, and working since 2009 at almost all settings, I learned to focus on what you personally struggle with. There are much more to us than having a disorder. Therefore, I listen to you and know you well in order to tailor the treatment plan that fits you the most. My end goal, besides eliminating the undesirable symptoms, is helping you finding your own path and having a better quality of life. I also teach graduate students what they need to know to make the right diagnosis and apply the best most optimal treatment for it.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
