ADHD Therapists in Saint Anthony, ID

I have taken multiple trainings on the treatment of ADHD and the severity that this diagnosis can have across the lifespan of an individual.
I have lived in Idaho for over 15 years & have 6 children. I am both an adventurer & treasure hunter at heart. I love working to help people achieve their ideal self. Many people have goals and hopes that they wish to accomplish, and often times these objectives are complicated by challenges they are currently facing or have faced in the past. I believe that the individual is the catalyst for change in their life, and my position as a counselor is to help them identify those resources that they have used in the past as well as employ new resources.

I work with a variety of challenges, including stress, PTSD, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, OCD & scrupulosity, intrusive thoughts, chronic pain, and ADHD.
I became a counselor because of how rewarding it is to see people transform for the better. Growing up in a US military family stationed in Germany, I experienced the collective joy when the Berlin Wall fell. At the same time, I was taught extensively about the horrors of World War II—starkly contrasting the beauty I saw there in the 80s and 90s. To me, these transformations serve as powerful testaments that people’s lives can improve, even after years of hardship.
My passion is helping people of all ages gain the understanding and support they need to strengthen emotional health and to improve thoughts, motivations, and habits.

I've had the privilege of supporting clients facing a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, family conflict, ADHD, infidelity, communication difficulties, financial crises, etc.
If you’re looking for a therapist who will be relentlessly optimistic about your chances for therapeutic change, then I’m your guy! A key element to change, growth, adaptation, evolution, however we want to refer to it, is to BELIEVE that it is possible – to have hope. I wouldn’t be in the business (or the enormous amount of student debt) I’m in if I didn’t believe in it, or if I didn't believe in you. You are the expert on your life and your experiences. I’m an expert on therapy stuff. Together, we'll be a team of experts attacking the problem head-on.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
