Currently I am only accepting private pay clients. I am no longer working with BCBS, or premera. Don't over think it! Therapy is great! If you've gone this far, chances are you know you need the support. (Yes it can be hard, and hugely rewarding.) If you're feeling stuck and need some help, give me a call. What we think influences how we feel, many of us react from that. Before we know it, we've become habituated to a pattern of thinking, feeling and reacting. Depression, anxiety, negative thinking patterns; all of these can decrease your quality of life. These cycles can be hard to recognize and stop.

It takes courage to reach out and involve a counselor in your most intimate of life's struggles. I honor that courage. My goal is to provide a safe and judgment-free environment for you to process what's going on in your life. Making a connection with a counselor you trust is so important. The most important factor in counseling is the therapeutic relationship. I consider myself to be flexible and easy going. I typically think outside of the box and don't get hung up on any one modality.

At some point, people face barriers between how they are perceived and who they want to be. And at some point life can hit us with random or chronic disruptions. Whether or not your mental health warrants a diagnosis, a core component to counseling is to identify and treat the imbalance in wellness. This includes identifying internal and external issues. Counseling may be the right resource if you are feeling unhappy, scared, lonely, frustrated, confused, overwhelmed...or any combination of emotions. Counseling may also be needed if your behavior is negatively impacting your wellness and relationships with others.

Hello, I have been working in the field of mental health for 6 years and specifically been doing therapy and counseling for the last 3 and a half years. My belief is that life is too short to sit in a place of discomfort, let trauma control us, or to struggle with mental health continuously. I want to help you to process life experiences which may be causing you emotional pain and challenges. My focus is to support individuals in all phases of life to find healing and understanding in difficult situations through developing their personal strengths and processing negative symptoms.

Note: I am full at this time, though openings occasionally will come up so you are still welcome to call me to check. We often learn to cope with difficulties through mental and relational patterns. These patterns can influence how someone relates to themselves, others, and the world around them. Should we work together, my hope is to help you explore these patterns and develop ways of living a life filled with intention so as to create greater meaning and purpose.

Do you ever feel like you're constantly running on empty, even after basic interactions? Does your inner critic drown out your accomplishments, making you question your abilities (imposter syndrome) and struggle to focus or connect with others? Maybe you're juggling a lot and feel overwhelmed, despite your best efforts. Life transitions can be challenging, and sometimes underlying factors like ADHD or a persistent negative inner voice can make things even harder. You might know there's a better way to navigate life, but feel stuck in patterns of self-doubt that hold you back.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
