In my practice, I utilize mindfulness, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy principles to emphasize and facilitate a greater understanding of the self.
As a social worker and therapist, I welcome your life experiences and I stand with you. I come to each session with an authentic, empathic, and nonjudgmental presence. You set the goals of therapy, as well as the pace at which we will work. I believe you are the driver of your healing, and the expert of your story. I believe that together we can move towards creating a life that is not necessarily free from suffering but one that is empowering so that whatever challenge comes your way you have the effective tools and the skills to get through life’s hurdles and come out stronger.

I've been intensively trained in DBT & practiced this for years.
Accepting New Clients. Are you struggling with something & feel alone in it? Is there pain, disconnection, depression, anxiety, trauma, etc. that you're not sure how to heal from? Carrying these things alone, not knowing how to unload them, can keep us from really living - feeling safe, connected, at home with ourselves & others. My intention in therapy is to come along side you, helping you find, strengthen & live from your best self. We'll work at healing those places where you feel stuck, wounded, lost & move towards being able to experience yourself with increasing wholeness.

I've found people do the best they can with what they've got. Coming to therapy takes courage to find a new way of being. While figuring out what is working well, and where adjustments are needed, we will have fun, too. Rather than simply listening to you, or asking about your feelings, I tend toward questions about thoughts and actions. It's okay if you don't know yet what needs to change. We will make plans together to meet goals we set in the first few sessions. These will focus on changing thoughts and behaviors that aren't helpful or effective. In that process, you will feel better about who you are and the choices you make.

Currently taking new clients via telehealth. ------ We all communicate and express ourselves in different ways; some thrive with words, others nonverbally, and some a mix of both. As an evidence-based DBT ( Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) certified counselor and Art Therapist, my goal is to foster a trusting, compassionate, and unconditionally accepting connection by meeting you where you thrive. I firmly believe that authentic human connection, learning and utilizing concrete coping skills, mindfulness, and judgment-free creative expression are key ways in which we, of all ages, can grow, communicate, and heal.

Therapy is about more than just symptom relief (though that's important)--it's also about learning to create connection with yourself and with others. Part of my job to help you develop skills to use with issues that get in your way the most. I’d also love to help you figure out how to feel like yourself again and restore your relationships to a place of wholeness. My goal is to help you get to a place where you feel connected to yourself and to those most important to you. My hope is that our work will help you feel free from the things that are keeping you stuck and give you a new vision for your life.

Currently Not Accepting New Clients. Acceptance and Change. These two things seem like complete opposites don't they? Carl Rogers believes "When I accept myself, then I can change". We spend a lot of time hearing and believing that we, they, it needs to change to be "better" or "different". This creates a sense of loss, poor self esteem, depression, anxiety, and conflict within ourselves and with those we love. I believe when we accept others, family, loss etc, then change can happen within that as well. Therapy IS about change; learning new skills, stopping habits, doing life differently.

Are you struggling with PTSD, ADHD, anxiety, addiction, or depression? These problems could have underlying roots in trauma or intense stress. Trauma comes in many forms; abuse, accidents, surgery, neglect, war, etc. Each of these events uniquely impacts the nervous system. Recovery from these experiences could help resolve or manage symptoms. My goal is to help empower you to experience healing. We can't change situations of the past, but we can, together, become unstuck from the automatic responses of the body/mind. Somatic Experiencing (SE) may help you have more fulfilling and meaningful life.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I invite you to be courageous and work to start your journey towards becoming your authentic self. Gaining insight into your life can be a complicated process. Most people experience challenging times when dealing with change. Harriet Lerner once said, "What will never change is the will to change and the fear of change. It is the will to change that motivates us to seek help. It is the fear of change that motivates us to resist the very help we seek." If you are feeling a need for change in your life, I invite you to start the process of therapy to change your direction in life.

Dialectical (DBT) Therapists
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the treatment most closely associated with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Therapists practice DBT in both individual and group sessions. The therapy combines elements of CBT to help with regulating emotion through distress tolerance and mindfulness. The goal of Dialectical Behavior Therapy is to alleviate the intense emotional pain associated with BPD. Its core assumption is that change and acceptance are intertwined. We typically think of our efforts to change things as emerging out of non-acceptance. We either decide to accept things as they are or we seek to change: through DBT it's not a case of change or acceptance, but resolving the conflicts to allow for self-acceptance and constructive change.

If you're looking for DBT therapy in Eagle or for an Eagle DBT therapist these professionals provide dialectical behavior therapy, DBT group therapy, DBT therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy (which is a common misspelling) and dialectical therapy. They provide dialectical counseling, DBT counseling in Eagle and DBT treatment. They include DBT groups, DBT therapists, DBT psychologists and DBT counseling.
