My primary passion & skill is in working with couples, women, & anxiety. Firstly, I can relate. I am a (
military
)wife of 11 years & a mother of 3 young children. I know personally the difficulties that come with this, as well as the working mother. I have also stayed at home with my children & I get that as well. I clearly remember being a college student & the unique challenges of that period of life. I have had my own journey with severe anxiety & God has helped me heal and grow from it. I am hope and future-focused, I'll help you walk towards the person you have always wanted to be & the full, abundant life God desires for you!

I am a veteran of the armed forces and interned at the VA in the Post Combat Care Unit working with
veterans
who struggle with PTSD.
Life can be difficult at times and I meet each client where "they are" in life without any judgment or criticism. Stress and anxiety can come in many forms and many ways, which can lead to feelings of being "overwhelmed." All trauma is different and each client has a different response/reaction to the same experience. I work with ALL families, couples, and individuals in processing, understanding, and learning to cope on their journey through life.

I have also had the great honor of working for many years with active duty and reserve
military
service members and their families addressing the impact of pre/post deployment.
Currently Not Accepting New Clients. Acceptance and Change. These two things seem like complete opposites don't they? Carl Rogers believes "When I accept myself, then I can change". We spend a lot of time hearing and believing that we, they, it needs to change to be "better" or "different". This creates a sense of loss, poor self esteem, depression, anxiety, and conflict within ourselves and with those we love. I believe when we accept others, family, loss etc, then change can happen within that as well. Therapy IS about change; learning new skills, stopping habits, doing life differently.

I draw my tools from many different therapeutic approaches which include Bowen, narrative, CBT, solutions-focused, EFT, and existential models.

Most of my clients identify as high achievers, type A, people pleasers, or perfectionists struggling with one or more relationships in their lives. Stress feels unmanageable and my clients might be tired of people walking on them or struggling to say no. I help clients identify unhealthy, manipulative or controlling behavior (which may include narcissistic patterns of emotional abuse). I teach clients skills to communicate more directly, identify red flags, set boundaries, build self-esteem, balance stress, and safety plan if/when you decide to leave the relationship(s). I offer support whether you choose to stay or leave.

As we move into this next chapter of life, let this be the time where your truest self emerges. As a helper, I honor and welcome you as you are. My hope is to create a space of safety, a space to discover, to unwind, to be at peace, to laugh and to cry, and to find healing as we work through your most difficult trials. I honor that everyone is their own best guide and my approach is that together, we will help you find what you need at this time. I especially care about all the parts of you working together. My hope is to tend to and heal the hurts of generational, historical, and present traumas.

I have been working in the mental health field for 16 years. People who want to focus on discovering their inner strengths and understanding how those attributes can help them overcome their current challenges will benefit greatly from my techniques. I use a strength- based team approach which simply means I see counseling as a partnership between the people I work with and myself. I believe life is a journey and together we can make the most out of yours.

Accepting New Clients. Overwhelmed. Stressed out. Depressed. Anxious. How long have you been feeling this way? Maybe too long. It takes more strength to talk with a professional than it does to struggle (or suffer?) with depression and anxiety on your own. Everyone experiences overwhelming situations at some point in their lives and those feelings can get in the way of finding happiness and peace in your life. I encourage you reach out. Take this opportunity to make your life better.

How can I find a therapist in Boise?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
