I believe in positivity and hope and will help clients to discover and build on their strengths. My goal as your therapist is to provide a trauma informed, safe environment to explore new cognitive frameworks, practice mindfulness, and celebrate your successes. I operate using a compassion based, judgement free approach that is collaborative in nature. Each client’s path to internal peace and happiness is unique to them and using the lens of neurobiology, cognitive behavioral theory, attachment and humor I hope to assist in that journey.

Areas that I find I thrive in my work with others are with individuals and families working with Autism or other DD, addiction, chronic trauma child/adult/parent, relational abuse, homelessness, refugee, chronic illnesses, and complex behavior presentations.
My ideal client wants to engage in positive change and seeks support in making those steps. I come from over twenty years of service in a diverse array of client age (2-96), ability, ethnicity, social class, and needs. Naturally we are all very unique creatures with some goals and experiences that overlap with those around us. My ideal client wants to find a way to make the most of their story in a way that brings them to their ideal version of self. My ideal client does not fit in any particular category, but wants to find comfort and opportunity in the life they want to live.

I have worked with trauma and addictions in treatment centers and in private practice for over 20 years.
I work with adults to unravel the story of their life and make sense of the patterns and behaviors that keep them stuck in emotional pain and discomfort. I use a variety of modalities and experiential therapies, over one to four days, in intensive individual therapy. This model provides extended therapy to those looking for relief and resolution in a shorter amount of time and provides more comprehensive healing than tradition talk therapy.

I specialize in overcoming trauma and integrating the mind/body.
I am an LCPC and RN. My therapy approach focuses on the body. The school of thought I practice from believes that when first faced with an overwhelming event, if unresolved, our body can hold onto the sensations of that initial reaction. A similar threat can recreate those physical sensations. Your body will then influence your emotions and beliefs as if you were back in that original moment. It's those times when your mind is telling you one thing, but your body is telling you something very different; I feel nervous but I don't know why. Somatic techniques can help link these making room for new insights and resolve.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
