I am a Certified IFS Therapist and specialize in eating disorders, body image and
parenting
issues. My passion is assisting clients who want recovery, but require guidance. I view eating disorders as protective trauma responses, not disease; and assist clients with the healing and integration of wounds that fuel these trauma responses. In this process, clients learn to access their own sense of self. If your goal is beyond symptom reduction and into life-long, visceral transformation, I am here to help you achieve it. I also enjoy helping parents develop a deeper connection with their children through practical, IFS tools.

I work with kids and adults, and also offer
parenting
workshops throughout the year.
Clients are welcomed into my space where ever they are in terms of understanding, self-awareness, and emotion--anger, tearfulness, confusion--all are accepted as part of the process. Sessions focus on the 'here and now' while also exploring historical issues being triggered and mis-managed. I confront irrational thinking and help clients re-script their less-than-helpful language around feeling 'not good enough,' 'broken,' or 'lost.' Ultimately, clients can expect to focus on their issues--whatever they may be--and will, in the process, come to feel genuinely known, accepted, and not so alone in the process of their lives.

Being a
parent
and spouse are two of the most rewarding and challenging roles of adulthood. Now throw on-top of that a pandemic and potential negative impacts of social media on our children. Feeling overwhelmed yet? It's okay not to have it all figured out. It's okay to need a place to say "all the things" or to ask for a little help. I chose a couples and family masters degree program because I know the struggles of all of our conflicting roles in life while still, more than anything, wanting to be a "good"
parent
. And sometimes being a good
parent
makes it impossible to feel like a "good" spouse.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in children, adolescents, and families. Specific areas of focus include ADHD, defiance and aggression, depression, anxiety, and other concerns that create conflict within the home. Sessions with me typically include both
parent
and child, either together or separately. This ensures that the child is learning skills that will help him/her manage his/her environment, and the
parent
is learning how to encourage the use of the skills in the home environment as well as how to effectively react to the child's behavior. *I am currently accepting only testing referrals at this time*

Today, some of the most common difficulties I treat are anxiety, family conflicts, addictions, life changes, divorce, co-dependency, eating disorders, feeling stuck, addictive and obsessive behaviors, lack of self-esteem, depression, complex trauma, relationship issues, including
parenting
and romantic partners and healing narcissistic relationships.
Accepting new clients. ‘How did I get here’. ‘How do I get out,’ are common thoughts we all have. We learn to survive and do the best in the worlds we have grown up in; and sometimes we find ourselves going round and round in a strange sort of ‘uncomfortable comfort’ or ‘functional dysfunction’ of our lives. I strive to see the world through your lens and understand your unique family, cultural, and identity experiences. In every individual exists a craving to embody a life unburdened by excessive guilt and shame, while having the freedom to enjoy a more meaningful and joyful human experience.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
