Are you someone who feels a longing to understand themselves more deeply—to move beyond old patterns and toward balance, healing, and authenticity? Perhaps you may be navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, or the challenges of major life transitions. Often, individuals spend years trying to "figure it out” alone and are ready for a more compassionate, integrated approach. They want to feel whole again, to reconnect with what matters most, and to live with greater self-trust, purpose, and peace. Together, we work to make sense of the stories that have shaped you and to create space for new meaning and possibility to emerge.

My clients often feel like outsiders because of their sexuality, gender identity, relationship structure, or the way they were raised to hide emotion or live up to expectations that never felt true. They may be processing trauma, grief, or a loss of direction. Some feel stuck in conflict, disconnected from partners, or unsure of who they are outside others’ standards. What they want is clarity, connection, and a space to feel fully seen beyond surface-level fixes, so they can create meaningful and lasting change.

Do you struggle with avoidance due to difficult emotions, thoughts, and memories that stop you from engaging in meaningful experiences? Avoidance can come in all shapes and sizes including opting out of experiences, disordered eating, distractions, overextending ourselves for others, and so much more. While these avoidance strategies may work to get rid of these difficult experiences in the immediate it can leave us feeling stuck or living an unfulfilled life. These avoidance cycles are tempting and can be hard to break because of the relief they can bring us even if just for a few seconds.

From the moment I discovered what counseling really was, I knew it was my personal and professional calling. Since that time I have had a wealth of experiences that have confirmed that being a counselor is simply what I am meant to do. Winston Churchill once said, "If you're going through hell, keep going." What better way to get through dark times in your life than to bring along someone who is dedicated to keeping you from getting stuck there?

Currently accepting new clients. Tired of fighting the sense of depression, anxiety, or loss of control brought about by traumatic events? Are you looking for help with your relationship? My clients tend to be goal-oriented, and are willing to invest time into their own lives or in their relationships in order to change them. With a few exceptions, our work will be limited to no more than 20 sessions to help maintain that focus. Therapy doesn't have to be a life-long experience for most people. NM Clients: While I am licensed in NM, I no longer have an office in the state. Thus, all NM appointments are via telehealth.

I strives to provide clients a safe, calm, open therapeutic environment. We tailor the therapeutic treatment of our clients based on their current situations and their desired directions in life. Some of life's transitions can be difficult to cope with and treating those transitions may be the key to a happier way of life. Whatever the case may be we all need help, and somebody to talk with at times during our life's journey.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
