At times we become trapped in repeating negative patterns, unable to achieve our goals. Life feels meaningless, lonely and cold. Clarity and direction needed for the pursuit of happiness is lost in the weight of the day blocking the energy needed for change and growth. Lost in this mindset we fill every space with condemning thoughts and fruitless behaviors. These thought patterns result in no room for healthy, life affirming emotion. Whatever we use to numb from the dark, also numbs out the light.

Through a relationship built on trust, respect, and genuine positive regard we can look at life's situations in this present moment with understanding of what is important to you in order to gain new perspectives and counteract faulty logic. Together the counseling process becomes successful. Walking through life can be especially difficult for those who have been mistreated within relationships, those who are struggling to find hope after a loss, or those going through a rough time. May this be a stop on your journey, where you can develop flexibility in the counseling relationship, and can continue on this magnificent road.

I understand that the thought of going to therapy can generate massive feelings of anxiety, but really, therapy is a hopeful process, one of realizing your strengths and learning more advantageous approaches to the challenges life can bring. I specialize in therapy with adolescents and adults, couples, individuals, families and blended families.

Update 10/24/23: I currently have openings for new clients. Your partner complains that you are too disorganized and scattered. In fact, they complain they have to be your private secretary. It’s impossible to find anything. You missed another dentist appointment and now they won’t even let you make another. Your boss yelled at you for being late again. Or if you are a student, you forgot to turn in the homework assignment. Nobody seems to have much sympathy and now people seem annoyed at you. You don't know how much longer you can keep your life moving forward and negative thoughts toward yourself keep growing.

Therapy can be a rich, meaningful and life-changing journey. It is a process of acknowledging and exploring where you are, where you've been, and where you want to go. Though the prospect of making life changes can seem challenging, if not daunting, it can be incredibly rewarding when you learn through experience that you're capable of making these changes. As your therapist, I am committed to working alongside you as you make these changes, cheering you along the way, as you cultivate the life you want to live, choice by choice and step by step.

This office is dedicated to the Mental Health Wellness of women in the Treasure Valley. I am Valerie Lamke, LMFT and have years of experience in private practice. My new office is focusing on the unique treatment issues of women. Many women have been so busy multi-tasking that they have forgotten to take care of themselves and often begin to experience an increase in depressed mood, anxiety, lowered self-esteem and even intrusive negative thoughts about self-harm. Neglect of self-care can often create a reliance on ineffective coping skills, that further contribute to problems. Therapy is an effective choice for many women.

Hello! My name is Brittany, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I completed my Master's Degree through Palo Alto University. My innovative and creative background is something that I incorporate in sessions, and I tailor my style to meet my clients' needs. I am passionate about helping clients understand their communication styles and build healthier relationships. Being vulnerable in counseling is necessary, but it can also be challenging. My main priority as a therapist is cultivating an environment where you can be transparent without fearing judgment.
