Relationships are healthy when we as individuals are healthy, and I will work with you to achieve a healthy way of being. I enjoy helping both couples and individuals create stronger connections with those who mean most to them. I specialize in couples treatment by using emotionally focused couples therapy (EFCT) to help couples recognize their cycle, and strengthen their bond.

Accepting new clients. In my practice I work with individuals, couples, families, and small groups. Most of the people I see are between 13 and 75 years old; overcoming trauma, self-doubt, depression, anxiety, or loss. Many feel "different", marginalized, alone, misunderstood, or not "mainstream" enough. Some look fine, but feel out of place. Some are deaf or children of deaf adults (CODA). Others are physically challenged, caretakers, straight, lesbian, gay, transgendered, or unsure. After 30 years, I still feel it is honored to be part of the growth and change people experience as skills develop and clients " Enjoy Life More".

I specialize in families/couples, and I am an Idaho-licensed LMFT and Arizona-licensed LAMFT. Often clients seek therapy because they have become stuck. Sometimes relationships begin great, but life/situations cause a change to happen. We all have personal challenges, have stressful periods, or go through traumatic times. The desire to seek help to explore and process these problems can open the door to positive growth. I believe in the healing power of relationships: no matter the wounds, if all parties are willing to heal, I will help.

My style is direct, down to Earth and intuitive. I prefer to use humor and common sense over clinical jargon and stuffiness. I am in the performing arts and my counseling sessions are held in my studio with all my music equipment and my dog. Most of my clients are dealing with issues related to adjustments, life transitions, relationships, self esteem, grief, and anxiety. I work with individuals/couples/families, adults and children. I am 100% freelance so I don't accommodate no-shows or frequent rescheduling. I do not accept insurance but I offer a sliding fee scale.

Update 10/24/23: I currently have openings for new clients. Your partner complains that you are too disorganized and scattered. In fact, they complain they have to be your private secretary. It’s impossible to find anything. You missed another dentist appointment and now they won’t even let you make another. Your boss yelled at you for being late again. Or if you are a student, you forgot to turn in the homework assignment. Nobody seems to have much sympathy and now people seem annoyed at you. You don't know how much longer you can keep your life moving forward and negative thoughts toward yourself keep growing.

For the last twenty years, I have worked in the field of mental health, special education, and substance abuse treatment. I have a passion for helping people navigate life's challenges. My approach is down to earth and inviting, and although I am a general practitioner, I have an affinity for working with adolescents, couples, and families.
