Clients are welcomed into my space wherever they are in terms of understanding, self-awareness, and managing difficult emotions. Sessions focus on the 'here and now' while also exploring historical issues being triggered and mis-managed. We confront irrational thinking and work to re-script the less-than-helpful language around feeling 'not good enough,' 'broken,' or 'lost.' Ultimately, clients can expect to focus on their core issues and will, in the process, come to feel genuinely known, accepted, and not so alone in the process of their lives.
Post-graduate training came from The Meadows Treatment Center in Arizona resulting in a deeper understanding of 'family of origin' issues and adult relational dysfunctions. Cognitive behavioral techniques and other 'best practices' are utilized depending on the issue being explored; homework and/or readings are also encouraged to augment the work being done in session.
I work with kids and adults, and also offer parenting workshops throughout the year. With parenting and divorce issues, topics of estrangement, reintegration, and blended households/families are all addressed as well as ways to better navigate separate households, non-custodial parent rules, lifestyles, etc.
