About
As a sought out music therapist, Ian Vereen won awards such as the Social Justice Through music and the John J. Cali Service award for his trauma informed, supervisory, and therapeutic work with a diverse group of individuals. Now, in his work as a counselor, he aims to continue to empower neurodivergent individuals, BIPOCs, and those with trauma-related experiences. He is a client-centered therapist who has experience working with individuals, couples, and families. He also specializes in working with autistic individuals who seek greater insight into navigating unmasking, and living authentically as themselves.
He has a strong background in DIRFloortime and enjoys working with toddlers, children, teens, young adults, and their families in building healthy relationships and social connections. He specializes in providing, queer, and transgender affirming therapy, and vocal psychotherapy for transgender individuals.
His style of therapy involves collaborating with clients in personalizing treatment plans to best suit their needs. He believes that clients are the experts on their own lives and how they prefer to navigate them. He typically employs a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, and the creative arts to work with his clients.
