Looking for a new therapist is weird and it is the rare person who knows exactly what they need. I work with people facing trauma, CPTSD, ADHD, anxiety and depression, but I am also happy to work with people who are really not sure what they are dealing with yet, who feel they need support in their lives through difficult transitions or who just feel that they want to dive into a deeper understanding of themselves but don't know where to start. I emphasize curiosity, exploration and experimentation while also brining a willingness to be direct and challenging when that is needed.
I primarily work in the area of mindful awareness of our emotional experiences. I have training in DBT, ACT and CBT, with an interest in depth psychology, but my style is most fundamentally shaped by my life long training in the Zen tradition, which emphasizes the ultimately healing nature of conscious awareness itself.
When starting a therapeutic process, it is not always necessary to know exactly what we want, or what the problem is. Mental and emotional suffering is complex, and it often hides in the shadows defying definition. It is best simply to start from where we are, with curiosity. Everything else will flow from there.
