**Accepting New Clients!** It can feel awful to struggle with crippling anxiety, depression, or the impacts of past trauma and abuse. Maybe it's a rough patch in your life or struggles in a relationship. Maybe you've struggled for so long it just feels the way it will always be. We all need help from time to time with our struggles, whether they are recent issues or long-term mental health challenges. You may not even be sure what the problem is, but you know there is a problem & you want to feel better. You want a non-judgmental, safe, empathetic, and skilled person who can help. I work with individuals (11+), couples, & families.
Beginning your mental health journey can be one of the most rewarding yet terrifying gifts you ever give yourself. I understand a person has a choice when selecting the therapist with whom they choose to walk that path, so I do not take for granted my privilege to tag along. I am truly passionate about providing therapy that is collaborative, trusting, safe, and compassionate, while focusing on solutions you want to see.
I am honored that you took one of the first steps in the therapeutic process by researching therapists through this site and found me! So, let me tell you a little about myself and my philosophy before you decide if I’m the right person to work with you. As you know, my name is Nicole and I am the owner of Counseling Connection. I chose the name “Counseling Connection” for my practice because I have noticed, throughout my career, that everyone has a need to connect. Whether we like to readily admit it or not, we do want to connect with the world around us, the people in it, and we often want and need to connect with ourselves.
My passions are working with trauma, children, and bridging the gap between marginalized populations and mental health services. Trauma is hard for everyone and even harder to deal with on your own. I am of the belief that every person has the capability to heal and grow. Whether you need someone to talk to who will always listen or want to engage in trauma work such as EMDR or IFS, it will be my honor to empower you throughout your journey to the new, healed you.
It takes a great deal of courage to reach out during vulnerable times and making the decision to seek help is a big step, which is why I focus on building a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship in a safe environment. I focus on empowering clients to gain overall well-being by providing a non-judgmental atmosphere. A cornerstone of my work is to become an ally for clients to assist them in achieving their goals and recognizing their strengths. Although I work with clients with many different concerns, my passion lies in assisting with symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and self-esteem.

Now accepting new clients - Therapy can be overwhelming and it is important to me to create a place where you can feel safe to be vulnerable. I provide a calm and laid-back environment to offer an inviting atmosphere for you to discuss your feelings, thoughts, and experiences. This is especially important to me because I know that growth happens outside of our comfort zone. We aren’t always aware of what we can achieve, and I enjoy assisting others in opening their eyes to their full potential. I have a strong belief that being willing to explore the challenging pieces of ourselves will allow us to grow.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I use a variety of modalities to treat a wide range of presenting issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief. My professional training includes working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma, rape/sexual assault, domestic violence, and grief. We all need help at some point in our lives. Feeling stuck is disorienting and sometimes it takes someone outside of your circumstances to help. Taking the step to reach out and ask for help is courageous, but can be nerve-racking too. Many people simply need a safe place to crash land and unpack some of life's hardships whether it's relationships, parenting, work stress, anxiety or depression.
Whether it's depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, or tackling a new chapter of life, I love working with clients who are ready to understand themselves better, and looking for support in their growth. I believe every person has their own unique set of patterns for tackling life and emotions, and problems often arise when these patterns are no longer serving us well. It can be difficult and frustrating to seek a better life if we do not first understand what has brought us to our current struggle or what still stands in our way. I'm here to be a listener, companion, and problem-solver while you're on that journey.
