I believe that counseling is a process whereby a client voluntarily seeks to resolve interpersonal, emotional, and/or spiritual difficulties with the assistance of another caring individual. I will seek to empower you to make changes for the betterment of your life through a wellness model. I will do my best to offer you the highest ethical standards of care, to listen empathically to you, to persist in hope, to believe in your restoration, and to avoid all forms of judgement. My goal is for you to develop fresh perspectives, to bolster your self confidence in your existing capabilities, and to form a feasible plan of action.

My goal in therapy is to create that space through acceptance, connection, and compassion. Through a collaborative process I hope to help individuals find their voice, create balance through mindfulness, and work towards their goals. Life is about connection with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. Unfortunately, not all of us were raised in ways that makes it easy to make those connections, leaving us feeling distant, numb, anxious, confused, or frustrated. Therapy provides the space for you to say what you really think and feel, in confidence, and without the fear of judgment. It’s the holding of this space, and the development of different life-skills that allows us to build the connections you're looking for in your life.

I am interested in working a broad range of concerns including depression and anxiety, identity and self-esteem issues, emotional expression (EQ), relationship, marriage/family concerns, men's issues, sexual trauma, sexual addiction, academic skills, and career concerns.
As a generalist, I work from an integrative lens, naturally leaning towards a client-centered, strengths-based, and multicultural perspectives. Often, I like to integrate aspects of Interpersonal Therapy, Family Systems, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive-Behavioral theories with the Bio-Psycho-Social framework. With extensive college counseling center experience (20+ years), I enjoy working with this population and understands the difficulties that often emerge during this transitional process (identities, relationships, self-awareness, etc.). I believe no concern is too big or too small to seek support.

I bring expertise in men's issues, autism, and intellectual disabilities, while welcoming clients from all walks of life.
Many of the adults I work with are capable and self-reliant — but they’ve reached a point where something isn’t working. Stress, frustration, or internal pressure keeps repeating, and pushing through it alone isn’t solving it. If you’re unsure whether therapy is “your thing,” that’s okay. We can approach it in a way that feels grounded and practical. My approach is collaborative, informed, and genuine. We focus on clarity and meaningful forward movement, not endless processing. I work with adults (18+) navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, relationship stress, and identity shifts.

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to understand your own story and break free from the traps that hold us back from change. You are brave because you are here. One quote that resonates with me is from Carl Whitaker, who once wrote, “Until you break with your patterns, the rut continues to deepen. Life goes on, but living dies”. Throughout my career, I have witnessed how being unheard and misunderstood creates a sense of feeling judgment and shame. I want to help by creating a space for healing and advancement by honoring that those experiences are a source of pain.

Hello. I am a therapist in private practice with over 20 yrs experience. In these challenging times, it can be helpful to have a person to talk to in a setting that is safe, supportive, and confidential. Essentially, I see this work as being about Resilience and Joy. Therapy in my practice usually includes skill building in the areas of mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), self soothing, and assertive communication. Other influences that impact my perspective are years of mindfulness and meditation practice, long term martial arts training, and being a singer/guitarist.

It can be challenging to determine when or where to begin your therapeutic journey. I understand firsthand the courage it takes to ask for help and the weight of stigma that can make those first steps feel even heavier. When we take an active role in our lives and well-being, we can reclaim our inherent creativity, resilience, and curiosity, qualities that allow us to navigate life’s challenges with openness and authenticity. Whether it is your first time or you have been on this journey for some time, I hope to create a space where you can start exploring new possibilities for yourself and relationships.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
