I believe that counseling is a process whereby a client voluntarily seeks to resolve interpersonal, emotional, and/or spiritual difficulties with the assistance of another caring individual. I will seek to empower you to make changes for the betterment of your life through a wellness model. I will do my best to offer you the highest ethical standards of care, to listen empathically to you, to persist in hope, to believe in your restoration, and to avoid all forms of judgement. My goal is for you to develop fresh perspectives, to bolster your self confidence in your existing capabilities, and to form a feasible plan of action.

I love helping children with their big thoughts and feelings that they're having trouble sorting through. In therapy, we're able to make space for big emotions that can disrupt a childcare or classroom setting. Clients learn how to express their emotions in multiple ways, with strong preference given to verbalizing their feelings so that others can understand and help. I also love working with adults addressing their mental health. Through active listening and unconditional positive regard, I hope to provide a safe space where adults can explore how they wish to grow and change without fear of judgment.

Life can feel messy, heavy, or uncertain- and that’s okay. Therapy is a space where you get to be fully yourself: defining what’s working, what’s not, and where you want to go. It’s rooted in real connection, not quick fixes, and guided by the belief that healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken, but rediscovering what’s already inside of you- resilience, clarity, and the strength to move forward. All parts of you are welcome- the messy, the heavy, and the hard to name. If anxiety, grief, trauma, or life changes leave you stuck, therapy can help you find your way.

Working with Teens and parent-child issues are treatment areas, as well as partner issues and specific online addictions and behaviors.

While no therapist can guarantee results, Meadowlark has the focus and training to help clients feel better in terms of managing issues and specific symptoms. Using Structural and Solution focused strategies, I work with clients to maximize functioning and minimize difficulties brought on by symptoms.

Do you have increasing concerns about your child’s mood and behavior? Perhaps your child has experienced a change, loss, traumatic experience or is struggling with peer relationships. As a parent, when your child is hurting, you hurt with them. While it can be difficult to ask for help, you don’t have to face these struggles alone. Many children experience mental and behavioral health challenges that are treatable. Through therapy, your child can develop healthy coping tools, improve emotional regulation, and learn positive and appropriate ways to get their needs met.

I believe in the power of telling and owning our stories. We all have different experiences that shape the way we view our lives and the world around us. My heart is for people and giving them the space to safely share their story and process through the experiences they have, both joyous and difficult.

My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space for people from all walks of life. Whether is is the rolling back of women's rights, attacks on our LGBTQIA+ communities, the spread of antisemitism, police violence, or attacks on Asian communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is no wonder that so many people are experiencing anxiety, trauma, and depression. If you have ever felt attacked, judged, or ashamed to be yourself, I would love to help you advocate for your self and find peace in this world. I also work with neurodiversity, problem video game use, and problem phone use.

Usually when someone asks me why they should go to therapy, I ask them if they think they could benefit from having a non-judgmental third party whose only motive in therapy is to help them get what they want in life. Having someone who can help identify the obstacles and then walk beside you to find healing and the solutions to the presenting struggles can be life changing. I want to be that person for you. The safe soul Sherpa. To be for you at times a guide, to be someone you can feel safe with, to feel safe enough to feel and heal, to be someone to challenge you to grow and find the light that is always shining within you.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
