Life ever feel like one giant group project where you’re doing all the work? Or like you’re trying to keep 50 tabs open in your brain—and everything keeps freezing? Maybe you’re snapping at people you care about, crying in the shower, or just feeling blah when you used to feel alive. You don’t have to keep pushing through on empty. Therapy with me is a place to drop the armor. We’ll sort through the chaos, laugh when we can, cry when we need to, and figure out what actually helps you feel lighter. Together, we’ll uncover what matters most to you and help you move forward with confidence and a renewed sense of hope.

June is here, which means it's practically summer! Summer is often thought of as a carefree season, and it definitely can be, but real life doesn't always slow down when the weather improves. Maybe there are habits you'd like to change, challenges you're tired of carrying alone, or goals that have been on the back burner for too long. Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, I'm glad you're here. We can figure it out together!

Life can bring many challenges, struggles, and difficult times. All of us have had seasons when we felt stuck and hopeless and in need of a starting point for healing and recovery. Very often, the past is present in disruptive ways, making it difficult to enjoy the moment or causing damage to our relationships. Sometimes worries can become consuming and we find ourselves simply surviving, instead of thriving. My passion is to walk alongside you, offering evidence-based treatment approaches, as you discover and embrace the life you want to live.

Food and body image are difficult topics. Many experience criticism, frustration, and feeling incompetent with their bodies. Food becomes the enemy, movement feels impossible. We get so many messages from society and it can be hard to navigate it all. It's easy to feel like a failure. I am here to say finding peace with our bodies is possible. Guilt doesn't have to be part of our relationship to food and movement. It may look different than what is your current normal, and you may feel unsure about how to make it make sense for your life. We can navigate all of this together.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
