"There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds" Laurell K. Hamilton. I believe that everyone has within themselves the ability to heal. I find it a privilege to walk with individual's on their personal journey to healing and living a full life. I have seen the therapeutic process open doors for individual healing. Being a part of the healing processes is a privilege where the opportunity for individuals to let go a little at a time presents, opening the door to hope and wholeness.

It may sound cliché but you are not alone. There are many people who are more than willing to help you in whatever way you need even if you know you need help but do not know exactly what kind of help. Seeking help is one of the first, yet can be one of the most difficult, steps to complete in the therapeutic process but is one of the most important steps. Just know you are not alone, you are strong, you are worthy, you can and will overcome, and if no one else believes in you including yourself, know I believe in you.

“Do What You Can, With What You Have, Where You Are At.” – Theodore Roosevelt Life keeps on, even if it feels like you can’t. Depression, anxiety, traumas, etc. can all impact how we see ourselves and the world around us. It can be difficult to navigate life after such occurrences. My goal is to help clients with their needs, and to build tools for when they may need them. I want to help create a safe place and space for my clients, where there is no -judgement, and we can collaborate with each other to meet the clients goals and needs.

Life can be stressful! It has a way of taking us to places that we would have never planned for ourselves. Trauma, loss, drug or alcohol use, early childhood experiences, recurrent behaviors, career stress and life-cycle changes can all have a deep impact on the emotional health and well-being of children and adults. Individuals, couples, and families can develop unhealthy patterns of relating to others which can then result in conflict, loneliness, chaos, and hopelessness.

Happy to offer online therapy and remote EMDR. My work is evidence-based, unique, and creative. It is grounded in behavioral change, mindfulness, and traditional talk therapy, which has been shown to effectively reduce trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, childhood behavioral disorders, and grief. Through the therapy process adults, families, and children can find a safe place to develop the skills they need to heal, to grow, and to thrive. My goal is to make each session unique to the needs of each person so they can build upon what already makes them happy.

I love helping people heal and to be a part of that process with them. We are either healing or healed, lets get through this together. I offer a range of modalities such as EMDR and art therapy, which get the whole brain on board and are both evidence based practices. Connecting with your therapist is one thing and effective interventions is another. I like working with individuals, couples, and families to develop this relationship and address the concerns they present with. Treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and general life stressors are what I do best.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
