I thrive working with couples struggling with infidelity, rebuilding trust or communication/fair fighting and high conflict.
The foundation of my therapy style is that therapy should be temporary, when at all possible. As a result, I am direct and goal-oriented towards goals you set in therapy. This approach works very well with couples needing to address trust concerns, high conflict couples, infidelity, and military couples.

I work with people struggling in the intersection of trauma, autism and/or ADHD, porn, love, or sex addiction or betrayal, midlife changes or loss, and are at a reckoning or dark night of the soul where things are not working for them anymore in how they feel about themselves, relationships, work, health, spirituality or coping strategies.
Feeling Lost, Alone, or Misunderstood? Life and relationships may not be turning out as you expected. You feel like you never quite fit in or figured things out the way others did. If you’re experiencing any of the following, you're not alone: Facing conflict, reckoning, or disconnection from self, others, or spirituality; Re-examining relationships, intimacy, or roles; Exploring your identity and impact of trauma and hiding true self; A late neurodivergent diagnosis (e.g., autism, ADHD); Realizing unhelpful or harmful coping strategies; Navigating grief or loss; Burnout or distress affecting your work or mental and physical health

I see couples, individuals, & families for: dating/relationship issues, anxiety, couples counseling ( infidelity, alcohol misuse, how social media affects connection, & pre-marital), college/graduate student stress, divorce, blended families, co-dependency, grief & loss, harsh self-narratives, & concerns with spirituality, indecision, and uncertainty.
My accepting approach is secured in the notion that we all deserve to be welcomed just as we are, including the problems and struggles we bear. Even if our problems have no straightforward answers, we can learn to live with and through them when we are better connected to ourselves and others. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I aspire to enable this connection. My training is rooted in Systems Theory, which views individuals, couples, and families through their relationship network. I take care to recognize how family of origin, cultural, and contextual factors inform our habits, perceptions, and sense of well-being.

Most individuals struggle with strong self-critical narratives, some need help with self-harm (cutting, binge/purge cycles, addictions), anyone with difficulty regulating emotions, as well as relational infidelity and healing thereafter.
Areas of expertise include: Women’s and Men’s issues, Couples/ Family/Individual therapy (LGBTQ inclusive in all categories of therapy). Trauma in many forms, Depression and anxiety, ADHD, Bipolar disorder, acute stress and Post traumatic Stress Disorder, and personality disorders. I work with Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy model, and Internal Family Systems model. Most clients have internal conflicts that are difficult to sort, and difficult to understand how to mediate. From experience I have found We can build a gentler, more tolerant way of residing with conflict and pain.

Infidelity?
Hi, I'm Pete. Therapy can mean different things to different people depending on your perspective. From mine, I'm here to help you reach the goals you're shooting for, and I'm not here to waste your time or tell you things you already know. I'll give you everything I've got to help you get where you're going. Relationship in real trouble? Feeling like you can't figure out who you are or want to be? Sounds heavy. I help with heavy.

Perhaps you’re dealing with trauma from infidelity and betrayal or experiencing the complexities of the perinatal period?
I believe that we must acknowledge the environmental stressors, attachment patterns, childhood wounds, and social pressures that may further complicate one’s mental health. I take a direct yet compassionate approach to therapy, offering a balanced tempo between nurturing support and the necessary work of sitting with discomfort and moving towards alignment.

Perhaps you are stuck in an unhealthy relationship or you constantly compare yourself to others. Breaking unhealthy cycles of thought can be life-changing.

We humans are fragile creatures. We are easily overcome by the emotions of anxiety, fear, anger and regret, and we judge ourselves for not being more resilient. Over time we accumulate losses that may not include the death of a loved one but still affect our sense of self: who am I now that this has happened to me? We look for causes and weave stories to explain our reactions to people or events, but our potential for growth is often inhibited by family or cultural scripts. An objective and experienced therapist—who also uses humor! —can help with building self-trust in coping with uncertainty.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
