I have extensive experience helping clients develop inner strength, wisdom, and empathy. I am invested in my clients and use this expertise to bring deeper awareness and compassion to those I serve. Through integrating numerous systemic therapy techniques, my collaborative approach aims to uncover dysfunctional patterns that perpetuate or contribute to destructive loops. In a warm, collaborative atmosphere where feedback about the process is communicated, my tailored approach allows my clients to cope with extreme stressors. It cultivates an environment that allows them to function authentically.

Life can feel overwhelming at times and it can also hold meaning. Although both can be true, making sense of it all while maintaining a secure connection with others is not an easy balance. Genuine and authentic relationships offer the unconditional support that is essential in building the foundation we need to explore who we are, what we value, and how it all impacts the lives of the ones we love.

Therapy can be overwhelming and it is important to me to create a place where you can feel safe to be vulnerable. I provide a calm and laid-back environment to offer an inviting atmosphere for you to discuss your feelings, thoughts, and experiences. This is especially important to me because I know that growth happens outside of our comfort zone. We aren’t always aware of what we can achieve, and I enjoy assisting others in opening their eyes to their full potential. I have a strong belief that being willing to explore the challenging pieces of ourselves will allow us to grow.

That’s the foundation of our work together. My goal as your therapist is to provide a safe, welcoming environment for you to foster growth and healing.

Person-centered. Trauma-informed. Solution-focused. These are the words I choose most frequently to describe my work in the therapy room. My greatest desire is to hold space for every individual that enters space with me, and support each of them as they learn to hold space for themselves. It is my goal to create a counter-cultural environment that allows us to work together to support you, your partner and your family to work to create a healthier framework for your relationships with each other and with yourself.

Currently have openings both in-person and via telehealth! We all have a story and some chapters tend to be more difficult to remember and understand than others. I assist others in processing through, coping with, and resolving the pain of those chapters in their lives that may impact their everyday life functioning in their current state. Landing onto this page is your first step in a very brave, yet potentially scary journey in healing. My approach is practical and often direct, however driven with compassion and non-judgement. I often tailor my sessions with a bit of humor if appropriate. :)

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
