I have worked with people who struggle with substance use, ASD, ID, maternal health, families, severe and persistent mental illness, PTSD, trauma and abuse, anxiety, mood disorders, self-harm, anger , and chronic illness.
I take trust very seriously. I have always been the person others can confide in and know there is not a risk of judgment. I am proud of that and will understand the gravity of your vulnerability and fear of trust. I'm here to listen to your story, and feel it is important that my clients get an education on the therapeutic process, skill building, training, and accountability. As a former Army medic with service in Bosnia, I hope veterans with will feel they can get relief knowing that I am a battle buddy that can help them get unstuck. Like many veterans I bring a wealth of knowledge of other cultures life experiences.

Depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, explosive anger , relationship problems, and addiction are the natural consequences of trauma.
Currently accepting new clients! Trauma comes in many forms. Whether it's the death of a loved one, abuse & violence, DHS involvement, a bad break-up, chronic illness, criminal justice involvement, chemical dependency, or loss of parental rights; experiencing trauma can feel very isolating. You might find yourself feeling detached from others or having difficulty with developing authentic connections with people. Maybe you feel lost and uncertain about how to carry on.. Or maybe you're finding yourself lashing out at others with little or no reason. Somedays it can feel like nobody understands your pain or how broken you feel.

No anger .
How can I tell my troubles to a stranger? What will they think of me? Part of mental health therapy is creating a safe space for people to come to and talk about whatever they want to talk about. I believe trust is essential for successful outcomes. I've been the daughter, the spouse, the parent, and the human who is struggling with past and present challenges. It is important to me to give you the space you need. I specialize in helping narcisisstic/gaslighting survivors, autism spectrum disorder, self esteem, depression, anxiety, grief, kids 12 and over, adults, individuals, and families.

Life these days can feel like you are on a roller coaster that doesn’t stop. This can lead to having very intense emotions, ones that feel overwhelming and hopeless. Maybe you are feeling extreme loneliness? Feeling so stressed that it’s hard to focus, or you just don’t feel like doing much of anything lately. Intense negative feelings can affect your physical health your relationships, sleep, and job or school performance. For some, anxiety or sadness can lead to outbursts of anger or feelings of worthlessness inside. It is important to learn about yourself, what is causing these feelings, and to know that there are solutions.

As a play therapist, my passion is assisting children and their families in being able to process and heal through traumatic and difficult situations. I believe children are resilient and their main source of communication is through their play. I highly value offering a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental environment for individuals to begin making the changes and progress they are hoping for. By making these changes, our clients have the ability to live the life they want and do so successfully.

What does it mean to live your best life? To experience serenity? How about adventure? Clarity? Happiness? Do you ever wonder if you were meant to have these experiences, and more? If you can wonder it, if you can imagine it, then you can dream it into being. You may need to learn new skills, develop new tools, identify the false and limiting beliefs that hold you back. Is this possible? Certainly. You just need a dream (a goal), and the right support.

Not currently accepting new clients at this time. Working in a variety of social work and mental health settings over the past 15 years, has taught me to implement a straightforward, nonjudgmental, compassionate, and empathetic approach, when working with people. As an interactive therapist, I offer a safe and supportive environment, where I encourage people to utilize their voice, not only to build on their own strengths and resiliency, but to collaborate together to address their needs and goals during this process.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
