Bill has a very straightforward and matter-of-fact approach to psychotherapy and counseling. He describes his approach as "change oriented", believing the client's inherent strengths provide the keys to growth and recovery. Bill recognized the profound role the
family
plays in mental health. Bill finds working with families especially rewarding. Much of that works includes couple and marriage counseling and youth.

I wanted to let you know that due to a
family
emergency I am not accepting counseling appointments at this time.
My desire has always been to be available, assisting anyone who is hurting. You may be facing a life altering health diagnosis, perhaps an accident, loss of a job, marital problems, an addiction, parenting issues, death of a loved one, caregiving; the list is endless. Perhaps you are wrestling with issues that aren't apparent to anyone else, but they are very real to you. It is easy to feel isolated and alone.

Now accepting new clients! When we face challenges in life, we go to what has worked in the past. We distract ourselves, distance ourselves, or self-medicate with food, relationships, substances and more. At some point, these methods do more harm than good. Let's work together to identify the ways you cope and find better options. I will create a comfortable and safe environment free from judgment that encourages self-discovery. I have experience helping people with trauma, relationships, self-esteem, body image, substance use, anxiety, depression, OCD, binge eating disorder, suicidal thoughts and more.

It takes a great deal of courage to reach out during vulnerable times and making the decision to seek help is a big step, which is why I focus on building a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship in a safe environment. I focus on empowering clients to gain overall well-being by providing a non-judgmental atmosphere. A cornerstone of my work is to become an ally for clients to assist them in achieving their goals and recognizing their strengths. I have extensive experience helping clients manage several disorders. I enjoy working with clients with intense emotions such as shame, guilt, fear, and anger. I assist in managing symptoms coming from abuse, rejection, and other past traumas. I am aware that people often have the perception that they don't fit it in or are disconnected from others. I would like to be able to be a support person and help clients navigate feelings and relationships. As well as helping clients gain communication skills and build a healthy support network.

Openings for individual adult clients. Often what brings people to therapy can be summed up by the word “stuck”. You might be stuck in a rut; under a cloud of sadness or depression; caught in the spin cycle of anxiety; trying to process relationship issues or a big decision; or wanting to move past trauma or grief & loss. Maybe someone or something in your life has given you a soft or firm nudge in the direction of therapy. We’ll work through whatever you bring to therapy in a way that prepares you to meet any difficulties along the road while you reach your goals.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
