Do you feel overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, or other struggles in your life? Maybe you avoid these feelings by stuffing your emotions down or distracting yourself with activities that ultimately don’t fix anything. Avoidance feels good now, but we know deep down it won’t bring the relief that we are craving. What you need is someone who is safe to talk to and who seeks to understand you. That will make a tremendous difference in your ability to cope and experience life with the joy, contentment, and purpose you are desiring.

I work with older adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, school/work conflict, relationship issues, and parenting stress.
I am certified in trauma-informed approaches including TF-CBT and CFTSI, and integrate CBT, ACT, Family Systems, and nervous-system informed interventions. This means we don’t just talk about what’s happening, we explore where patterns began, how they live in your body and relationships, and how to move forward with greater clarity and stability.

My passion is helping others heal and gain insight into the issues that they are experiencing. I practice a person centered approach as I believe that we tend to be our own best experts. I emphasize a collaborative style during session to help you progress towards you goals. Personal growth and healing does not have to be something that is an abstract concept, but rather can be a possibility. It helps to have someone who is unbiased and is present to help you navigate life’s challenges and traumas. I also feel passionate about working with adolescents as they navigate the complexities of the transition from youth to adulthood.

Life can feel overwhelming—for you or your child—and it’s not always clear where to start. Maybe your child is struggling with anxiety, big emotions, or behavior that doesn’t make sense. Maybe you feel stuck or exhausted, carrying experiences that still feel heavy. You don’t have to do this alone. I offer a calm, supportive space where we gently understand what’s underneath and work toward lasting change. Together, we look at both what’s happening now and the deeper “why,” so healing feels meaningful, not temporary.

You’ve consulted Reddit. You’ve questioned ChatGPT. Maybe you even went old-school and hit up WebMD. And, yet, life is still meh. I’m only a lowly human being (and one with OCD at that), but I’d like to help, because life is too short to be miserable. If you want to rediscover what it means to be human at a time when the world seems to be losing its humanity, we’d be a good fit. If you like to laugh, we’ll be a great fit! I approach therapy in an informal way, because counseling doesn’t have to be so uptight. (As an added bonus, I'm totally open to you renaming me like a chatbot, but you'll get the best results by calling me Andy.)

It takes real courage to reach out for therapy—especially when life feels heavy, uncertain, or just too much. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a powerful act of self-respect and hope. My role is to meet you with openness and care as we explore what’s unfolding in your life and reconnect with the parts of you that may have been quieted, hidden, or forgotten along the way. To me, therapy is sacred work—a place to tell the truth, tend to what hurts, and remember who you are beneath all the roles and expectations. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin; only a willingness to show up as you are.

As a therapist, it is my goal to bring genuineness, acceptance, and empathy to the counseling environment. I am here to meet you exactly where you are in life, without judgment or shame. The work of the client can be challenging, and often begins with the daunting task of coming in the doors on that first day. Change is uncomfortable, and often avoided. I am here to facilitate that change, walk alongside you, and provide new insight and understanding.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
