Life can bring many challenges, struggles, and difficult times. All of us have had seasons when we felt stuck and hopeless and in need of a starting point for healing and recovery. Very often, the past is present in disruptive ways, making it difficult to enjoy the moment or causing damage to our relationships. Sometimes worries can become consuming and we find ourselves simply surviving, instead of thriving. My passion is to walk alongside you, offering evidence-based treatment approaches, as you discover and embrace the life you want to live.

If you are reading this, you are most likely considering getting in touch with a therapist. Regardless of the reason or reasons, I believe that it is important for you to recognize and honor your strength in reaching this point. I know that it can be difficult to ask for help, but if you are ready, I am here. Creating an environment that is judgment-free and unwaveringly supportive is exceptionally important to me. My desire is to work with clients who feel that there is something preventing them from living their best and most fulfilling life.

Do you feel overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, or other struggles in your life? Maybe you avoid these feelings by stuffing your emotions down or distracting yourself with activities that ultimately don’t fix anything. Avoidance feels good now, but we know deep down it won’t bring the relief that we are craving. What you need is someone who is safe to talk to and who seeks to understand you. That will make a tremendous difference in your ability to cope and experience life with the joy, contentment, and purpose you are desiring.

As the world around us is rapidly changing, some things remain the same. One of those things is our innate need to connect; to feel safe, supported, heard, and understood. This is our first and most important goal in therapy. Embarking on a path towards healing may look different for many of us. However, for those of us who choose the therapeutic route, the most important first step is to find a therapist that you can connect with and grow to trust.

I will often begin work with clients from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy orientation with the broad direction of the work framed from an existential perspective.
Everyone's suffering and struggles are unique to them and impact their lives in unique ways. This creates a life that can feel meaningless, hopeless, and filled with dangers that keep people trapped in their suffering. I take the stance that symptoms that arise in response to this suffering are there to be learned from, that they're trying to tell us something even if it's as simple as that life isn't quite right. Using this information together, we can walk together to a life filled with more meaning, in line with your values.

There are times when life feels uncertain, overwhelming, or difficult to make sense of. You might be dealing with anxiety, burnout, or relationship stress—or finding yourself asking deeper questions about who you are, what you want, and what truly matters. I enjoy helping people build lives that feel more aligned with who they are, while also examining the patterns, choices, and values that shape their experiences. Therapy isn’t just about symptom relief—it’s also an opportunity to gain clarity, strengthen your sense of self, and move forward with greater intention.

June is here, which means it's practically summer! Summer is often thought of as a carefree season, and it definitely can be, but real life doesn't always slow down when the weather improves. Maybe there are habits you'd like to change, challenges you're tired of carrying alone, or goals that have been on the back burner for too long. Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, I'm glad you're here. We can figure it out together!

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
