I work with queer, trans, neurodivergent, and politicized people who carry too much clarity in a world built to suppress it. My clients often arrive holding trauma, grief, identity friction, or collapse-awareness—and they’re not just looking to feel better, but to feel real. They want clarity, inner power, and space to name what others won’t. They’re building something true from the ruins—and I help them remember they’re not alone in that work.

Immediate availability: Monday-Friday afternoon/evenings some Saturdays, both in person and via telehealth.
I am extraordinarily passionate about assisting individuals with developing minds, and/or those who feel stagnate, to overcome obstacles in finding success. Throughout my 20-year career I've dealt with a wide range of folks, all carrying a vast array of diagnosis and/or addictions, in a variety of settings. I work with those ages 12 and up, specializing with adolescents and dual diagnosis (co-occurring mental heath issues and addiction). The therapeutic process can foster growth, garner insight, provide validation, and assist with emotional regulation, all leading to self improvement, which is something we should all subscribe to.

Currently accepting new clients! When we face challenges in life, we go to what has worked in the past. We distract ourselves, distance ourselves, or self-medicate with food, relationships, substances and more. At some point, these methods do more harm than good. Let's work together to identify the ways you cope and find better options. I will create a comfortable and safe environment free from judgment that encourages self-discovery. I have experience helping people with trauma, relationships, self-esteem, body image, substance use, anxiety, depression, OCD, binge eating disorder, suicidal thoughts and more.

There is no shame in the struggles of this life. It's Ok to not be Ok. Maybe you aren't even sure how you ended up here. Healing and growth can look different for different people. Together we will figure out what that looks like for you. And we will move at your pace. I believe that you can make positive changes at any point, no matter what you did or what was done to you. What is shared in counseling is confidential, sacred and empowering.

Bill has a very straightforward and matter-of-fact approach to psychotherapy and counseling. He describes his approach as "change oriented", believing the client's inherent strengths provide the keys to growth and recovery. Bill recognized the profound role the family plays in mental health. Bill finds working with families especially rewarding. Much of that works includes couple and marriage counseling and youth.

I have immediate openings for in-person sessions in Cedar Falls and virtual sessions across all of Iowa.
Couples counseling can help when your relationship feels distant and communication is strained. You may be trying your best, but anxiety, past hurts, or growing resentment have built a wall between you. You want to feel valued, supported, and close again. You long for a partnership where both of your needs are met, where conversations bring you together instead of pulling you apart, and where intimacy—both emotional and physical—can flourish. I help couples reconnect, rebuild trust, and create a stronger, more fulfilling relationship.

I am currently working via Zoom from home and I am in my office for in person times on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
I work with ages 3 through adulthood: individuals, couples, and families. I have worked with individuals who have: depression, anxiety, Bipolar, grief from any type of loss, ADHD, Autism, stress, anger, divorce, and those who need a third party to talk to without judgement. I am trained in Adlerian Play Therapy for children and adults to reach beyond traditional talk therapy for self-expression/processing when words are hard to find. It is proven that children say much more in play than they have the words for.
