I have 30 years experience as a licensed clinician and believe all behavior is communication. Whether it’s a child having meltdowns at school, an angry teenager, or an adult with anxiety – each contains a message that therapy can help decipher. I believe everyone is doing the best they can with the tools they currently have but sometimes that isn’t enough. By collaborating with you, the client, we will look at the bigger picture of things that may be influencing your challenges and make adjustments/learn new tools so that more effective strategies can shine through.
I specialize in "tweens," adolescents & their families but see adults as well. I work from a cognitive behavioral, systems and social learning family therapy perspective. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, accredited in Triple P Parenting (Standard and Standard Teen) and am experienced in Aggression Replacement Training.
I genuinely enjoy people from many walks of life and value the variety of people and perspectives I have worked with in six different states. I am not what you'd call a "typical" therapist according to the teens I've worked with. You will quickly learn that I tell the truth with empathy. I believe in the power of laughter to help us heal.
