About
I offer a psychoanalytic environment for people who are in pain and who are asking for help. A psychoanalytic environment is a place where your life really matters. Specifically, I offer help for people who have exhausted common sense and reassurance as ways of surviving life. Mental, emotional, and physical pain have sources that are beneath the level of consciousness. Psychoanalysis is an environment in which you are encouraged to speak freely in a way that you cannot speak to anyone else. A place where your life really matters is a place that facilitates your freedom of thought and speech, a place where the unknown can appear.
This can be profoundly healing, because regular life does not offer opportunities to speak freely while being deeply and closely listened to. This does not mean I will agree with everything you say or think. In fact, my role is to help you understand more than you currently understand.
Much human suffering comes from a belief that life cannot change, that there is no other way to live, that parts of oneself are intolerable, or that one’s thoughts are unspeakable. My role is to help you find new ways to talk, think, and feel about and with yourself and others. If we work well together, you will begin to find a better way of being alive.
