My philosophy is based in Existential-Humanistic therapy - I believe everyone is the expert on their own life, and everyone can create their own meaning and purpose with the right tools and support.
Sometimes it can feel like the world wasn't made for people who don't fit the "typical" mold. That's why I strive to honor the unique strengths of every client. I offer individual therapy for adults and teens, and I specialize in working with those who have ADHD, anxiety, learning differences, and people who are neurodivergent. I welcome those who LGBTQ+, marginalized, or are simply looking for someone to accept them for who they are. I also specialize in working with clients with "nerdy" interests such as video games and D&D.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive behavioral (CBT) perspectives have been my strongest influences.
Are your health issues overwhelming your life? Living with chronic medical issues like pain can be isolating, frightening, and dejecting. As a health psychologist, I offer hope, knowledge, and support to individuals struggling with complex challenges. Every day, scientific advancements illuminate the integral relationship between mind and body. Effective treatment of one requires caring for both. In working with me, you can expect kindness, humor, acceptance, and a lot of mixed metaphors. I hope that, through our work together, you can find sources of light on your darkest days.

Using my skills in IFS, EMDR, Humanistic Sandtray, and talk-therapy, I help you direct you life rather than just play the roles others expect you to play.
Do you feel emotionally exhausted? Have you tried just about everything you know to do to feel better and enjoy life more? Do you feel conflicted and confused? Do you struggle to set boundaries? Are you heavy with grief? Whatever is burdening you, I want to help you release it. Stress, self-doubt, grief, anxiety, and complex trauma are the issues I work with most often. You and I will work together to resolve whatever is weighing on you. My job is to help you become more present and connected with yourself and others. When you discover just how resourceful and capable you are, things in your life begin to change.

I provide Trauma Informed care and Humanistic approaches in first helping you find safety within yourself.
We all need connection. In this age of social media and the abundance of information, we can feel isolated and disconnected. I am here to support you in re-establishing authenticity in your relationships, especially your relationship with yourself. I strongly believe that authentic connections with others can lead to positive change. When we learn to create secure bonds with people that we care about, where we are accepted for all parts of our-self (the good/bad/struggles and the repairs), we are able to live life in full color. I am here to see you, to accept you and am honored to walk with you in this stage of your life.

I believe in creating a safe and trusting relationship between the client and therapist. Therapy can be hard work and getting started can be scary, however making art and stimulating creativity can ease this process. Along the way we will be implementing these effective tools in cultivating a more fulfilling life experience. Main office line is 972-544-6633.

Healing and growth are a collaborative process. Jenna has a heart and passion for walking with people from a place of hurting to a place of healing, from a place of stagnation to flourishing. She’s a coach, counselor, and consultant that is passionate about building exponential healing systems by disrupting the things that disrupt you. A relationship-informed trauma expert and a trauma-informed relationship and sex expert. At the intersection of these, she’s learned that most forward movement comes from unlearning and then relearning.

I believe that counseling and therapy can benefit everyone. Clarity and focus are the goals of the type of therapy I do, and empowerment is part of how we get there. Resolving ambivalence, finding motivation, and developing insight are what you can expect from effective therapy sessions. No matter what is bothering you, causing you stress, or blocking your path to getting where you want to be, counseling can help. Change can be very invigorating once you have the wind at your back, instead of blowing in your face!

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
