I have been trained in a variety of treatment methods, including humanistic, cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapy.
I enjoy working with adult individuals and couples in psychotherapy. Many of the individual clients I see are working through relationship issues (past or present), whether originating from family of origin, romance, friendships or the workplace. I frequently train individual and corporate clients in stress management practices. I have a master's degree in rehabilitation psychology, which informs my work with clients struggling with acute or chronic health conditions. I like to help clients become their own advocates in management of their medical conditions. I believe knowledge is power and a great antidote to fear and depression.

As a therapist, I embody a humanistic worldview.
In any environment that I am in, diversity and inclusivity are two qualities I search for. From first-hand experience, I know how it might feel to walk into a room where no one present looks like you. Relatability is vital. I believe there is so much power in allowing everyone to have a seat at the table, no matter their beliefs, abilities, etc. In the therapy room, I make it my top priority to see everyone as who they are right there in that moment. I love to meet people where they are at and work collaboratively with them to cultivate the essence of resiliency.

Using my skills in IFS, EMDR, Humanistic Sandtray, and talk-therapy, I help you direct you life rather than just play the roles others expect you to play.
Do you feel emotionally exhausted? Have you tried just about everything you know to do to feel better and enjoy life more? Do you feel conflicted and confused? Do you struggle to set boundaries? Are you heavy with grief? Whatever is burdening you, I want to help you release it. Stress, self-doubt, grief, anxiety, and complex trauma are the issues I work with most often. You and I will work together to resolve whatever is weighing on you. My job is to help you become more present and connected with yourself and others. When you discover just how resourceful and capable you are, things in your life begin to change.

I prefer to take a humanistic and postmodern approach to therapy.
Do you ever feel like life is just life-ing? Everything is not what it seems? Navigating and managing the stresses of life can be challenging for everyone whether you’re 8 or 48. It’s not about what direction the curve ball is coming from, it’s about how you catch it.

My principles of practice include Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, Humanistic Psychology, Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing, Imago Therapy, and 12-Step recovery principles.
The path of progress comes from collaboration in an atmosphere of cooperation, education, and insight. Whether our stress is around our internal needs, people close to us, or with the state of the world, the counseling relationship is about accessing and utilizing your innate ability to learn and grow from where you are into the better life you seek. Covid-19 has disrupted nearly all our connections with friends, family, work, and community. This has brought out the unfulfilled need for connection in relationships already stressful, and has inspired people to find creative ways of strengthening connection.

I primarily rely on the pillars of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and humanistic approach.
The decision to pursue therapy can feel overwhelming and I appreciate you taking this step! Therapy can sometimes be an uncertain, scary, and uncomfortable process that I continuously validate for clients. My goal with therapy is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for your healing journey. I have found that every person is unique and requires different therapeutic skills. Everyone deserves to rediscover their authentic self and understand internal beliefs about relationships and personal identity. I hope to collaborate with you to process past challenges and current struggles as well as work towards your overall wellness.

As a therapist I work from a humanistic approach pulling from attachment and family systems theory.
People begin therapy for various reasons. Commonly for self-development, the wish to improve confidence, grieving a loved one or the loss of a relationship. Other reasons could be experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, or life transitions. Or perhaps you struggle with the existential questions of life. Whatever, your reasons for treatment are unique to you. There is only one You. That also means your goals and needs are specific to your ongoing interpersonal growth. If you are ready to improve your life, gain clarity, and learn ways to manage your emotions then counseling is a positive step.

My approach to counseling is integrative; rooted within Humanistic-Existential, and Person-Centered therapies and integrated with more directive approaches as needed.
What if I told you that you can have the life you desire; deep, meaningful, and authentic? I can help you bridge the gap between where you are and where you wish to be so that you can not just survive, but rather thrive in your life. You can change your life, have healthy relationships, and live the life you imagine if you are willing to do the deep inner work. I acknowledge you for being here and taking this first step towards your preferred future. I believe in your capacity for growth and change, and in your ability and capability to create the life of your dreams. It is my pleasure to help you get there.

I work primarily from a humanistic perspective emphasizing building a safe and trusting relationship with clients to begin to tackle the problems they are facing.
My passion is working with children and families, whether that is coping with normal life transition difficulties (e.g., separation anxiety, bed wetting, behavior problems in school, etc.) or dealing with the harder stuff (e.g., attachment disorders, divorce, bullying, abuse, etc.) I facilitate play therapy with kiddos, and have a playroom with a variety of toys where children are able to use their natural language of play to express needs in a developmentally appropriate manner.

I have been trained in Play Therapy, Realty Therapy, and Humanistic Approach.
Life changes are frustrating and time consuming on everyone. Not everyone is able to roll with the punches or handle them well with a smile on their face. My perspective is "you are right". This 'adulting' can be draining. I help my clients, from children to families, to find perceptive in the change and strengthen their confidents in themselves in a healthy and positive way.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
