Caring for ourselves can be hard to do amid responsibilities, societal pressures, or internal/ unresolved emotions. Seeking therapy involves a desire to help yourself, and I would love to assist you in your journey. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, drawing from humanistic, CBT, psychodynamic, and existential approaches. I believe our emotional health is just as important as our physical, and they go hand in hand. Through a collaborative approach, I believe we can work through everyday challenges/ stressors as well as process any events from the past that may be interfering with the present.

My treatment approach draws from psychoanalytic, relational, and humanistic philosophies.
What's keeping you from meeting the world the way you want to? Many people seek therapy because of a specific set of symptoms or problems. Others feel more generally stuck, fed up, or confused by patterns that they cannot break despite continued efforts. I work with adults, couples, and adolescents struggling with relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, sexual identity, and the impact of traumatic experience. Together, we will create an exploratory space that fosters emotional authenticity, relief from shame, and a restored sense of vitality.

My orientation to therapy is humanistic, feminist, and I incorporate elements from CBT, mindfulness, and narrative therapy in my practice.
Every person who has arrived at the decision to seek therapy has had a unique path that has led to this point. Many struggle with the overwhelming demand of coping in a world with mounting pressures. Some may have noticed that their friends and family are commenting more often on their drinking habits. Others may be dealing with relationship problems that are stemming from unresolved issues from early in life. I believe that every person is trying the best they can in their unique circumstances, and everyone the potential to heal when given the right support. Therapy can be a tool that fuels self-reflection and fosters change.

My approach with individuals is psychodynamic and humanistic, and my work is always tailored to the unique needs of each client.
I have seen different ways people feel about "therapy," but when we are going through something tough, we could all use someone to talk to. Therapy is your private, trusted space for taking an honest, deeper look at what is going on in your life and within yourself. In this safe space, we work collaboratively to explore your relationship styles, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be helpful, or getting in the way. We all have a built-in compass within us that encourages and guides us towards "who we are meant to be." The insights generated in therapy can help us make moves towards a healthier, happier life.

Client centeredness, humanistic position, and empathically understanding are important to uncover underlying manifestations of trauma and irrational thinking.
My professional expertise is primarily rooted on establishing a positive rapport with the client. The individual's needs are of paramount importance when trying to establish said connection. I don't believe much in theoretical concepts but rather in how the dynamics are presented between the dyad when processing and dealing with sensitive personal issues, which ultimately may help us to develop a stage of psychological balance and emotional fulfillment.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
