Sessions with me tend to incorporate a mix of Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and attachment-based approaches.
Overall, I would say that I am just a human who enjoys helping other humans no matter who they are or what problems they are navigating in life. Some of the most prevalent diagnoses I have worked with include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. I am passionate about working with individuals who are part of the LGBTQIA2+ community or are questioning any part of their identity. I also have a passion for supporting individuals have experienced religious or spiritual trauma and helping them unpack and overcome the unique challenges it can cause.

I take a humanistic and strengths-based approach to support individuals in developing tools for self-empowerment and reflection.
My approach to therapy is rooted in the understanding that people are made up of many parts, and that integrating these parts generates a deeper recognition of each individual and their experiences as innately human. I strive to support clients in developing a greater understanding of self in order to access healthy and adaptive responses to life circumstances, situations, and relationships. My practice is informed by holistic and person-centered perspectives to support the authenticity and resiliency of each person and their worldview.

I incorporate elements of humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness practices into my approach.
My ideal client is someone that has an idea of their goals and what they would like to pursue in therapy, but needs the extra insight and encouragement to clarify those goals or to take the first steps in accomplishing them. They may be struggling with mood issues, have trouble controlling their thoughts, or be dealing with difficult or contentious relationships. They are in need of someone to listen to them, to provide empathy and validation, and then to help guide them along the path they have chosen to make the changes they wish to see in their life.

My approach is simple. I see my role as a partner in a process that is the pursuit of healing and restoration. While I have certain professional expertise, every client is an expert about his/her/their own life. I am intentionally client-centered, strengths based and trauma-informed. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my primary means of intervention which includes an eclectic blend of Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Humanistic and other modalities. Assigned homework is common and clients participate in the development of activities that support clearly identified treatment plan goals.

I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and pull from CBT, relational, ACT, person-centered, feminist and humanistic approaches.
Currently have openings for Wednesday mornings via telehealth! I believe each person is doing the best they can with what they have, and have a passion for working with those who wish to learn how to best use their strengths effectively to reach their goals. I enjoy working with adults seeking to learn more about themselves, including the patterns that may have stopped working for them. Few things feel more honorable than sitting with those who are open to challenge themselves, while honoring their needs, wants and goals. I love working with those with the desire to continue growing through every chapter of life.

My approach is person-centered, humanistic, and strengths-based.
It's not always easy for individuals to admit they can't handle their challenges alone, nor is it an admission of weakness to look for help. The world around us may appear scary and unkind sometimes, but I have an unwavering belief that we are all agents of change. I believe we can bring positive change to the world by empowering those around us, one individual at a time. This is why I do what I do, and this is what I can do to help you. It may seem hard today, but together we can find a way to make the burdens of life manageable.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
