As a therapist, I offer empathy, unconditional support, and guidance through the uses of client-centered and humanistic therapies.
We've all been there: feeling lost in the darkness, or stuck with no sense of direction. Or maybe it's your sense of self that is taking a hit and you find yourself doubting your self-worth, your value, and your confidence is at an all-time low. We all have our own, unique struggles, and luckily there is hope. By being on this website and on this page right now, you are taking the first step to healing.

He brings a welcome personal, humanistic touch to his work, and he is always impressed by the courage with which his clients face life's challenges.
Life is difficult even under the best of circumstances. You may be seeking therapy in order to overcome some blocks to important goals in your relationships or career. Oftentimes these blocks are the result of using ways of coping that once were essential in dealing with important figures and problems from earlier in life, but which now get in the way of positive and healthy emotional and interpersonal functioning. Therapy is an excellent way of using a helping relationship to identify these coping styles, and ultimately to develop more effective ways of relating to yourself and to others.

Whatever challenges are impacting your life, you don't have to face them alone. That's where I come in – to help you heal, gain new insights and perspectives, and develop the tools you need to best care for yourself. At the heart of my approach is building an authentic, egalitarian therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, heard, and best able to work towards your goals in a supportive environment. My primary population focus is LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse clients, and as a queer person myself, I believe creating a safe, affirming space is key to successful counseling.

I work within an Existential/Humanistic and relational framework.
Welcome to my practice. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and bodyworker. I take a holistic, collaborative approach to helping clients heal by using a combination of psychotherapy, biofeedback, and craniosacral therapy to help clients move toward a sense of peace and balance in their lives. For many, this means that we will work together to heal from past traumas, overcome symptoms of depression and anxiety, learn to be more self-accepting, cultivate more fulfilling relationships, and find deeper meaning in life.

I draw from humanistic/existential theories as well as a person-centered approach.
It is ok to not be ok. As we go through life, stressors increase, anxieties grow, and we can forget what it means to just be. We bring to relationships a lifetime of experiences which can hinder us or help us. Through all of this haze, we can lose sight of taking care of ourselves, understanding our needs, and making choices with those needs in mind. Being a human is a work-in-progress. I see it as an honor to stand with someone as they confront, explore, renovate, and soothe the self. With work, I believe a person can find their shine.

I'm specially trained in Existential-Humanistic Therapy, EMDR, and Inner-Child Healing that helps unite the mind, body, and spirit.
One of my favorite song lyrics says, "I'm just a spirit trying to be human." There’s so much weight that lives inside those words: emotions, questions, uncertainty. For those of us who wander, question who we are, or wonder what our purpose is, we can stumble if life hasn’t met our expectations. The majority of my clients identify as misfits, empaths, spiritual beings, and highly sensitive people who have survived childhood trauma, harsh life transitions, and an occasional identity crisis.

I utilize a humanistic perspective when working with different modalities, all while knowing and aware that Black scholars barely had access to education when these systems of ideas came about.
Hey there! I can see you are mindfully looking for a therapist that can be alongside you during your darkest moments. As a non-binary and queer therapist of color who is also a part of the LGBTQIA+/ BIPOC and neurodivergent communities, I believe in and practice affirming all identities. I also believe that our childhood experiences and intergenerational trauma impact our mental well being, our physical bodies, the way we navigate and think about our past, and how we perceive our realities in the world. Overall, I know all of the mental labor it takes to fight systems fought by our ancestors that we continue to fight for today.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
